Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle- 29
“Rang Roop Ka Yeh Bazaar Hai” is another peppy number by Asha Bhosle this time sung for Laxmikant Pyarelal. The lyricist is Anand Bakshi. The song is from the Dharmendra and Rekha starrer Keemat 1973.
The details of the movie and its story are available on this post, made earlier. There are 2 songs already posted on the blog. This is the third of the seven songs from Keemat 1973.
In this movie, Prem Chopra plays the main antagonist, delivering a performance typical of his well-known villainous persona from the era.
Prem Chopra portrays Shakti Singh, a powerful and cunning smuggler who is involved in illegal arms dealing and other nefarious activities that threaten national security. His character is suave, manipulative, and ruthlessly ambitious – he uses both violence and charm to achieve his ends. Shakti Singh acts as the central figure that the protagonist, Agent 116 – Gopal (played by Dharmendra), must defeat.
Prem Chopra brings his trademark flair to the role – cool menace laced with sly sarcasm. His dialogue delivery, with a calm but threatening tone, enhances the sinister nature of the character. He exudes a deceptive respectability, which makes his evil all the more menacing. In “Keemat,” Chopra blends menace with sophistication, making his villain not just physically dangerous but intellectually formidable as well.
This role is one of several from the 1970s where Prem Chopra carved a niche as the go-to stylish villain in Hindi cinema, often playing characters who posed a genuine challenge to the hero, not just with brute force but with calculated strategy and polished evil.
Rekha lip syncs to this song while Dharmendra is disguised as an Arab. We can also see Prem Chopra and his cronies.
This is a Villain’s Den song.

sau teer hai ek nishana
o rang roop ka

sabkee aankhein jhukee hain

honthhon pe sabke
kitni baatein ruki hai
main khubsurat haseena
mushkil hua mera jeena
rang roop ka
yeh bazaar hai
khareedaar hai
kaun mera na jaane
rang roop ka
hm hm hm hm
hm mm hmm hmm

ulfat mein thhandee

meree aadaayein bikengee

rang roop ka

har koi mera deewaana
sau teer hai ik nishaana
ho rang roop ka
yeh baazaar hai
khareedaar hai
kaun mera na jaane
rang roop ka
