Today (4 August 2025) is the fourth Monday in the holy month of saawan in the northern parts of India. This is the last Monday of saawan in these parts and with that the month of saawan ends on 9th August with the festival of Rakshaabandhan. However, the month of saawan will continue in the southern parts of India.
As mentioned by me earlier people undertake their annual pilgrimage in this month. Lord Shiva is worshipped this month. Devotees carry get ‘gangaajal’ from places such as ‘Gaumukh’, ‘Haridwar’, Gangotri, Sultanganj (Bihar) etc and carry it with them chanting “bol bam”. They offer this ‘gangaajal’ at temples of Lord Shiva.
Today, we will be listening to one more shiv-stutee song. This is from the movie “Baba Taaraknath-1980’ which was directed by A.K. Chatterjee for ‘Sangeeta Productions’. Kedarnath Agarwala was the producer of this movie which was passed by Censor Board on 31.07.1980. The cast of this movie has Biswajeet, Sandhya Roy, Salochana Chatterjee, and many others. Dialogues of this movie were written by B.R. Ishara.
Aarti Mukherjee, Anuradha Paudwal, Manna Dey and Bhupinder Singh were the playback singers for this movie. Kavi Pradeep wrote all the songs for this movie and they were composed by Neeta Sen. Datta Davjekar was the associate music director for this movie while Kuku was the associate editor of this movie. Editing of this movie was done by A.K. Chatterjee who also directed this movie.
Today’s song is in the voice of Bhupinder Singh. I have not been able to note correct words at many places, where I would request knowledgeable readers to provide the correct words there.
I am unable to identify the actor/s lip syncing this song and also the others present in the picturisation of this song. Readers who may have already watched this movie can throw more light on this movie and its songs.
