Pancham’s Music – Eighties (1981-1990) Part-2 –Post-9 (1981)
In the series “Pancham’s Music – Eighties” today we introduce the movie ‘Kachche Heere-1981’ on the blog. Out of all 1981 released movies with R D Burman’s music in them, This is the only movie that had not made its debut on the blog till now.
Before going into the details of this movie we will take a look on the updated status of the movies passed by Censor Board in 1981, where R.D. Burman was the music director.

Today’s movie ‘Kachche Heere’ was directed by Narinder Bedi, for N.P. International, Bombay. It was produced by N.P. Singh. Narendra Bedi who directed this movie also wrote the story of this movie. I have not watched this movie. But sources mentioned that Narinder Bedi wanted to repeat the formula of his successful movie ‘Khote Sikkey’ in this movie again after few years. However this movie got delayed and was finally released to theatres in 1982, whereas the records for this movie were released in 1980 and it was certified by Censor Board in 1981 (on 10.07.1981).
Narinder Bedi repeated many of this cast and crew members of ‘Khote Sikkey’ in this movie . The cast of ‘Kachche Heere’ had Feroz Khan, Reena Roy, Danny Denzongpa, Narendra Nath, Sudhir, Paintal, Shakti Kapoor, Kanwar Ajeet, Komila Virk, Dev Kumar, Bharat Bhushan, Maruti, Sundar, Shubha Khote, Viju Khote, Nathuram, Keerti, Kamal Kapoor, Shashi Kiran, Mac Mohan, Balbir, Jankidas, Birbal, Mohan Shery, Fansuk, Assi, Dulari, M. Rajan, Master Butu, Helen, Aruna Irani with debutant Pannu and others.
‘Kachche Heere-1981’ has four songs in it which were all written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and composed by R.D. Burman (the successful combination that created the great song ‘jeewan mein tu darnaa naheen’ for the movie ‘Khote Sikkey-1974’.). However the songs of this movie ‘Kachche Heere’ didn’t become popular and they were forgotten alongwith the movie.
The singers of ‘Kachche Heere’ included Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle and Lata Mangeshkar. Today I am presenting the first song from the movie which is in the voice of Lata Mangeshkar, the only song she sung for this movie. It is picturised on Helen with another actor (whom I am unable to identify) and with almost all the cast of this movie, except Feroz Khan, present in the picturisation of this song there. This seems to the song before the climax of this movie where the protagonists are celebrating their short lived triumph over the dacoits who are taking advantage of this dance performanceto launch the final attack. What happens further and how is what we have to watch in this movie.
