Today(18 August 2025) is the last Monday of shraavan month in Southern India as well as parts of Central India. We have been presenting Shiv stuti songs on the blog ever since shraawan month commenced in Northern India and subsequently in Southern and Central parts of India. Shraawan is over in Northern parts and now it is getting over in Southern and Central parts of India as well. Today we present another song devoted to Lord Shiva.. This song is from the movie “Balram Shrikrishna-1968”.
This movie ‘Balram Shrikrishna-1968’ was produced and directed by Chandrakant for Joy Films. Story of this mythological movie was based on on Shrimad Bhagwat Katha. Screenplay of this movie was written by Chaturbhuj Doshi and dialogues were written by Ramesh Pande. Ram Khade and Vithoba Surve were the editors.
The cast of this movie has Dara Singh, Shahu Modak, Premnath, Nana Palsikar, Randhawa, Azad, Ashish Kumar, Jemini Ganesh, Prithviraj Kapoor, Savitri, Jayshree Gadkar, Geetanjali, Madhumati, Bela Bose, Padma Rani, Sushma, Uma Khosla, Aruna Irani, Sulochana Chatterjee, Babu Raje, Shery, B.M. Vyas, Anand Joshi, Arvind Pandya, Bhalerao, Radheshyam, Pal Sharma and others.
This movie “Balram Shrikrishna-1968”has nine songs written by Kavi Pradeep and composed by C. Ramchandra. Mahendra Kapoor, Asha Bhonsle, Manna Dey and Kamal Barot had given their voices to the songs in this movie. Five songs from this movie have been covered on the blog.
Today we present the sixth song from this movie “Balram Shrikrishna-1968” on the blog. This is a shiv-stuti’ song. Picturisation of the song shows Prithviraj Kapoor (playing Banasur- an ‘asuraa-king’)singing the stuti of Lord Shiva (in the voice of Manna Dey). His courtiers join him in this bhajan of Lord Shiva. One among them (whom I am unable to identify) lip syncs in the voice of Mahendra Kapoor). As the ssong progresses, he is seen lip syncing in the voice of Manna Dey as well.
Let us listen to this beautifully composed shiv bhajan.
