Here’s another rare song by Asha Bhosle. “It Happens Aisa Hota Hai” is from Badla released in 1974. The songs were written by Anand Bakshi and composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.
‘Badlaa-1974’ was produced by R.C. Kumar for Century Films, Bombay. It was directed by Vijay, who also wrote this movie. These details are provided by Avinash Ji in his earlier post about 7 years ago. That was the iconic song from this movie – Shor Mach Gaya Shor.
It had Shatrughan Sinha, Moushumi Chatterjee, Ajit, Johny Walker, supported by Padma Khanna, Alka, Shetty, Mohan Choti, Maruti, Bhagwan, Keshav Rana, Ram Mohan, Sabina, Mohan Sherry, Kamal Deep, Mac Mohan, V. Gopal, Johny Bakshi, Desh, C.S. Dubey and Mehmood. Nirupa Roy, Arun Irani, Anwar Hussain, Paintal, Sujit Kumar, Shyama, Madan Puri, Harindranath Chattopadhyay, Iftikhar, Sudhir, Raj Mehra, Randhir, Jayshree T, Meena T, Shefali and Kajal make a guest appearance in this movie.
Synopsis:
Badla is a crime-drama revolving around betrayal, injustice, and vengeance. It presents the tale of a young man who is wronged by a powerful criminal syndicate and how he sets out to exact revenge, while also protecting the innocent. The film blends the 1970s Hindi cinema formula of action, melodrama, and romance, with Shatrughan Sinha in a strong heroic role.
Story:
The story follows Vijay (Shatrughan Sinha), a righteous and courageous man who is falsely implicated in a crime due to a conspiracy by a dangerous smuggler-gang led by Ajit’s character. The gang thrives on illegal activities—smuggling, extortion, and murder—while keeping themselves untouchable by the law.
Vijay’s life takes a tragic turn when the gang’s treachery not only sends him to jail but also ruins his family. His father dies heartbroken, and his sister faces dishonour due to the stigma of his supposed crime.
Upon his release, Vijay swears Badla. His quest is not only personal but also moral—to bring down the criminal empire that destroyed his life.
During his mission, he crosses paths with Rita (Moushumi Chatterjee), a young woman who initially misunderstands him but later realizes his innocence and becomes his ally. Their relationship gradually develops into romance, giving the story an emotional anchor.
The villainous syndicate, led by Ajit, with support from henchmen like K.N. Singh and Anwar Hussain, repeatedly try to eliminate Vijay. But with clever disguises, courage, and help from comic sidekick Johnny Walker, Vijay manages to strike at the gang one by one.
The drama escalates with several action sequences, betrayals, and revelations. In the climax, Vijay confronts the main antagonist (Ajit) in a high-voltage showdown. Justice is served as the villains are punished, restoring Vijay’s honour and fulfilling his vow of revenge.
The song is picturised in a hotel/club setting and is a cabaret dance performed and lip synced by Padma Khanna. We also see the hero Shatrughna Sinha, Mohan Sherry and Iftekhar.
