Blog Day :

“Lalkaar” (1972) was produced and directed by Ramanand Sagar. The movie had Mala sinha, Rajinder Kumar, Kumkum, Dharmendra, Dara Singh, Sujit Kumar, Agha, Roopesh Kumar, Ramesh Deo, Dev Kumar, Nazir Hussain,Tuntun, Keshto Mukherjee, Nana Palshikar, Raj Mehra,Shetty,Sushama Shrestha, Kamal Kapoor, Shyam Kumar, Ram Mohan, Radhe Shyam, Narbada Shankar, Brahm Bhardwaj, Hira Lal, Gopal, Manmohan, Ratan Gaurang etc in it.

“Lalkaar”(1972) had eight songs in it (including a multiple version song). Fours songs (including the multiple version song) have been covered in the blog.

Here is the fifth song from “Lalkaar”(1972) to appear in the blog. Rafi is the singer of this song. Kulwant Jani is the lyricist. Music is composed by Kalyanji Aanndji.

The song is picturised as a teasing song. Dharmendra is seen expressing his love for Mala Sinha in a manner that is considered “eve teasing” in India even today. I have not seen the movie but only the songs so this picturisation confused me. The first song from this movie that was covered in the blog had Rajendra Kumar and Mala Sinha singing a duet, whereas in this song Dharmendra is expressing his love for Mala Sinha. What was going on in the story of this movie ? Why this movie was trying to sell its viewer a complicated and convoluted story ? I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the story of this movie.

This song was lying in the drafts section of the blog since 16 June 2009. Had I not procrastinated for 16 years, this song would have been the first song from the movie to have figured in the blog instead of ending up as the fifth song. 🙂

Song-Zara mudke to dekh kudiye (Lalkaar)(1972) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Kulwant Jaani, MD-Kalyanji Anandji

Lyrics

oye jaan jee
zara mudke to dekh lo jaate jaate

o maangoon na koi khairaat
maangu na koi khairaat
chaahoon na koi saugaat
meree suntee jaana baat kudiye ae
jaate jaate
o zaara jaate jaate
zara mudke to dekh kudiye ae
jaate jaate ho zara jaate jaate

aaj tak phool masle hain laakhon magar
aaj ek phool par dil fida ho gaya
dil fida ho gaya
main samajhta raha khel jis pyaar ko
ab wahee pyaar mera khuda ho gaya
khuda ho gaya
dillagee chhod dee
jab se dil ko lagee
ek shamma bujhee
ek shamma jalee
isko sach maan ke kudiye
jaate jaate
zara mudke to dekh kudiye ae ae
jaate jaate
ho zara jaate jaate

dil ke badle agar toone dil na diya
teree raahon mein dhoonee ramaaoonga main
ramaaoonga main
dekh lena sanam ishq ke khel mein
ek din jaan par khel jaaoonga main
khel jaaoonga main
jab muhabbat ka tum ko yaqeen aayega
laut kar ye deewaana naheen aayega
mujhko pechaan le o kudiye ae
jaate jaate
o zara jaate jaate
