Regulars on this blog are aware that I am a big fan of Qawwaalees from Hindi films (as well as non-film qawwaalees ). I am also a big fan of the famous Qawwaalee singer Jaani Babu Qawwaal. His voice is pure nostalgia for me. I love his singing and also the way he performed his qawwaalees on screen.
I am trying to present Qawwaalees sung by him whenever I get an opportunity to do so. Today I am presenting a song that must be considered rare because it is not mentioned in HFGK and its records were apparently not made. This song is only available in the movie. Despite its presence in the movie it has gone unnoticed because not many people may have watched the video or noticed that this song was not mentioned in HFGK..
This movie is ‘Chhaila Babu-1967’. If one goes through the ‘list of songs-moviewise’ can find that there are two movies with this title ‘Chhaila Babu’, one from the year ‘1967’ and another from the year ‘1977’. Titles of both these movies are painted in Orange viz all the songs of these movies are covered. However, today we add one more song to the movie ‘Chhaila Babu-1967’.
‘Chhaila Babu-1967’ was directed by K. Parvez for R.H. Mullan Productions, Bombay. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 17th May 1967. It was produced by R.H. Mullan and it had Naaz, Subhi Raj, Zeb Rehman, Rajendranath, Bhagwan, Salim, Meenakshi, S. Bannerjee, Leela Mishra, Ranjana Kadam, Tuntun, Airkoo, W.M. Khan, Sheikh, and others. Story, screenplay and dialogues are by B.H. Bukhari. Editing was done by Raju Naik. The lyricists for this movie are Hasrat Jaipuri(two songs),Asad Bhopali(one song) and Taj Bhopali(one song). Music was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.
I had never watched this movie before. This movie is now available on internet but its print is not of good quality. (The links of this movie also provide there a brief synopsis, which actually is of the movie ‘Chhaila Babu-1977’)
‘Chhaila Babu-1967’ made its debut on the blog on 21.02.2009 and all its songs, i.e. four considered then, have been posted on this blog as mentioned in the table below. I have added this fifth undocumented song to the list.

As mentioned above today’s song is a Qawwaalee song that preches unity. The song is picturised on Jaani Babu who sings for himself. Many other persons accompany him on the stage and sing in chorus. Almost the entire cast of the movie is present among the audience watching this Qawwaalee.
Music for this movie ‘Chhaila Babu-1967’ was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal. However this qawwaalee seems to be composed by Jaani Babu himself. Name of the lyricist for this song is not known.
In the book ‘Laxmikant-Pyarelal’- Music Forever (An ‘LP’ Era:: 1963-1998) authored by Ajay Poundarik this song is listed in the list of songs composed by L-P. However the lyricist name is not mentioned there too.

It is interesting to note that composers C Ramachandra sang under other composers [LP] for the movie Chhaila Babu released in 1967.
