“Alibaabaa Marjinaa-1977” , a fantasy movie, was directed by Kedar Kapoor for ‘Sargam Pictures, Bombay’. It was passed by the Censor Board on 26.10.1977. The cast of this movie has Prem Krishan, Tamanna, Pinchoo Kapoor, Amrish Puri, Paintal, Viju Khote, Sajjan, Murad, Ram Mohan, Sharat Saxena, Rajan Kapoor, Keerti Kumar, Birbal, Jugnu, Pardesi, Chandu Allahabadi, Ghanshyam, Urmila Bhatt, Ritu Kamal, Madhu Chauhan, Sushma Pandit, Uma Dhawan and others. Javed Khan, Jagdeep and Shakti Kapoor had made special appearances in this movie.
“Alibaabaa Marjinaa-1977” has eight songs in it which were all written by Kulwant Jani and composed by Usha Khanna. Shailendra Singh, Yesudas, Asha Bhonsle, Shatrughan Sinha, Sulakshana Pandit and Anuradha sang the songs of this movie. This movie made its debut on the blog on 06.09.2025 wherein our dear Satyajit Rajurkar jee had introduced this movie on the blog with its’ song ‘gulbadan aa gayee lo aa gayee’. In his post he has also mentioned about the story of this movie in brief, which I am reproducing here below;
Living modestly with his mother and married brother Qasim, Alibaba is portrayed as generous and good-hearted—a woodcutter by trade.
When Marjinaa (often depicted as a slave/princess) appears at the slave market, Alibaba borrows money from Qasim to free her. She insists on remaining with him as his slave, and he accepts this with a desire to end her bondage permanently.
While out in the forest, Alibaba witnesses bandits entering a cave using the magic phrase (akin to “Open Sesame”). After they leave, he repeats the phrase, gains access, and uncovers their vast hidden treasure.
Alibaba returns home loaded with riches. His mother borrows scales from Qasim to weigh the loot; suspicious, Qasim and his wife soon realize something extraordinary has happened.
Overhearing Alibaba’s secret, Qasim ventures into the cave himself. Tragically, the thieves discover him and murder him, even dismembering his body into pieces.
With Qasim gone, Alibaba’s mother and wife are endangered by the thieves—whose wrath is stoked by greed and betrayal.
After that, it’s about how Marjina uses her wit and triumphs over the 40 thieves, while saving the lives of her master Alibaba and his mother.
Today I am presenting the second song from this movie which is in the voice of Shailendra Singh.
Today’s song is a song with a message. It is a nice song with some good verses and composition to listen too.
Today 4th October 2025 is the 74th birthday of Singer and actor Shailendra Singh. On this occasion we wish him a very happy birthday and a healthy and peaceful lie ahead.
Audio version of the song has the full song, I could find only a partial video of this song. I guess that this song might have been played in parts in the movie as a background song. This song is a lesser heard song, which I feel deserves to be a better known song. I had not heard this song in the past.Failure of the movie at the box office could be the reason why its songs, alongwith the movie itself were forgotten with time.

Song-Aaye jo kisee ke kaam jeena hai usee ka naam (Alibaba Marjina)(1977) Singer-Shailendra Singh, Lyrics-Kulwanj Jani, MD-Usha Khanna
Lyrics
aaye jo kisee ke kaaaam
o o o o o
aaye jo kisee ke kaam
jeenaa hai usee kaa naam
aaye jo kisee ke kaam
jeenaa hai usee kaa naam
jeenaa hai usee kaa naam
aaye jo kisee ke kaam
aaye jo kisee ke kaaaam
o o o o o o
aaye jo kisee ke kaam
jeenaa hai usee kaa naam
aaye jo kisee ke kaam
jeenaa hai usee kaa naam
jeenaa hai usee kaa naam
aaye jo kisee ke kaam
hai sachchaa insaan wahee
jo gairon ke dukh baante
ho o o o
gairon ke dukh baante ae
chun letaa hai palkon se jo
sab kee raah ke kaante
ho o o
sab kee raah ke kaante
ho apne liye gar jeenaa
to jeenaa hai naakaam
har kone mein pahunchaa do
ye allaah kaa paighaam
aaye jo kisee ke kaaaam
o o o o o
aaye jo kisee ke kaam
jeenaa hai usee kaa naam
aaye jo kisee ke kaam
jeenaa hai usee kaa naam
jeenaa hai usee kaa naam
aaye jo kisee ke kaam
kabhee agar mil jaaye daulat
achchhe kaam lagaanaa
ho o o
achchhe kaam lagaanaa
nange badan ko kapdaa
bhookhe ko rotee dilwanaa tu
tu rotee dilwaanaa
nekee kee raahon par chalnaa
maqsad ho gar teraa
jaayaz hai phir tere liye
ye loot kaa maal khazaana
hai teraa ye imaan
naheen tujh par ye ilzaam
har kone mein pahunchaa do
ye Allaah kaa paighaam
aaye jo kisee ke kaaaam
o o o o o
aaye jo kisee ke kaam
jeenaa hai usee kaa naam
aaye jo kisee ke kaam
jeenaa hai usee kaa naam
jeenaa hai usee kaa naam
aaye jo kisee ke kaam
daulat kee naagin se jisne
apnaa pyaar badhhaayaa
ho o o
apnaa pyaar badhhaayaa
kabhee kabhee aise insaan par
aisaa bhee din aayaa
ho o o
aisaa bhee din aayaa
pis gayaa maut kee chakkee mein wo
apnee maut se pahle
waqt ke haathhon loot
gayaa us kee
saanson kaa sarmaayaa
laalach kaa to bande
ye hotaa hai anjaam
har kone mein pahunchaa do
ye Allaah kaa paighaam
aaye jo kisee ke kaaaam
o o o o o
aaye jo kisee ke kaam
jeenaa hai usee kaa naam
aaye jo kisee ke kaam
jeenaa hai usee kaa naam
jeenaa hai usee kaa naam
aaye jo kisee ke kaam
