Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle – 57

I come back after a short break with yet another rare song by Asha Bhosle!! “Jo Bhi Toone Dekha Teri” is written by Vijay Anand and composed by R D Burman. It is from a film called “Ghunghroo Ki Aawaaz”(1981) which was produced by Vijay Anand and directed by Tulsi Ramsay and Shyam Ramsay for Navketan Productions. The movie had Vijay Anand, Rekha, Dr. Shriram Lagoo, Leela Mishra, Dheeraj Kumar, Padma Khanna, Pinchoo Kapoor,Iftekhar, Agha, Kanchan Mattu, Sunder Taneja, Ratnamala, Gurcharan, Harindranath Chattopadhya etc in it.

Three songs from this movie have been posted on the blog. Here’s the fourth of the five songs in that album.

The story is (Spoiler Alert)!!!

The story revolves around Kumar (Vijay Anand), a wealthy aristocrat, and his beautiful wife Anita (Rekha).

Kumar is deeply in love with Anita, who is known for her passion for dancing with her ghunghroos (anklet bells). Their marriage, however, is short-lived.

Kumar, driven by greed, lust, and suspicion, ends up murdering Anita in a fit of rage. Her death is brutal, and her body is disposed of in a concealed grave.

After her death, Kumar tries to move on with his life, enjoying his wealth and freedom. But soon he begins to experience eerie occurrences.

The sound of Anita’s ghunghroos echoes in the haveli at night. Kumar sees fleeting visions of her, sometimes dancing, sometimes staring at him with accusing eyes.

One by one, those complicit in her murder—or those close to Kumar—start dying under strange and terrifying circumstances. It becomes clear that Anita’s spirit has returned to seek vengeance and torment her husband.

Kumar’s descent into paranoia and guilt is gradual but terrifying. He cannot escape her presence—the ghunghroos remind him constantly of the crime he committed. The climax reveals Anita’s ghost in full, exacting retribution from Kumar, dragging him to his doom.

Song-Jo bhee toone dekha teree aankhon ka bharam hai (Ghunghroo Ki aawaaz)(1981) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Vijay Anand, MD-R D Burman

Lyrics:

ho o
jo bhee toone dekha
teree aankhon ka bharam hai
jo bhee toone dekha
teree aankhon ka bharam hai
jo bhi tune dekha
teri aankho ka bharam hai
kehle isko pyar par yeh
dhokhon ka haram hai
dhokhon ka haram hai ae ae
jo bhee toone dekha

kaatil hai zaalim hai
dilkash hai maana
kaatil hai zaalim hai
dilkash hai maana
aaa aaa o o o
o o o
kaatil hai zaalim hai
dilkash hai maana
ankhon ki sharam yeh lekin thhodee besharam hai
thhodee besharam hai
ho o
jo bhee toone dekha

ho o
dooba tera dil jis mein
doobee teree khushiyaan
doobee teree khushiyaan
ho o
dooba tera dil jis mein
doobee teree khushiyaan
ho ho ho
aa aa aa
dooba tera dil jismein
doobee teree khushiyaan
woh raaton kee siyaahee meree
zulfon ka karam hai
zulfon ka karam hai
ho jo bhi toone dekha

dilon ko lubhaana churaana
banaana mitaana
dilon ko lubhaana churaana
banaana mitaana
hansaana rulaana to in honthon ka dharam hai
honthon ka dharam hai
ho
jo bhee toone dekha
dekha
jo bhee toone dekha
jo bhee toone dekha
teree aankhon ka bharam hai

Nice Post Satyajit jee. Enjoyed this post and this song, which I don’t think I have listened much earlier. Please continue with your this series, as there are still many lesser-known songs of Asha Bhonsle yet to be posted here.

Congratulations on crossing fifty songs in this series. Actually I was suppose to comment on your 51st post in this series, but it got delayed and then did not happened 🙂 Please keep it UP.

Regards,

Avinash
