#the Decade of Thirties – 1931 – 1940 #

The festival of light-Diwaalee is here and I take this opportunity to wish one and all a very happy, prosperous, healthy, safe and of course a full of music Diwaalee in this year 2025.
Each year when we celebrate Diwaalee our hearts are filled with nostalgia and music that has been an integral part of our life. Hindi Cinema music has given to us a number of songs for this occasion and they cover all human emotions in these songs whether happy, sad, bringing back memories, missing the beloved on festival etc etc.
Our culture and upbringing has conditioned us to become mentally strong and face adversity with optimism and keep working towards a better future no matter how difficult the present circiumstances may be. This lesson is taught to us through various sources including epics like Ramayana, Mahabharat etc.
Here is a song of optimism that conveys this message that we should illuminate our minds with the light of hope and keep moving towards the goal till we reach our destination. This beautiful song is penned by Pt Anand and music is composed by Ramchandra Pal. Snehprabha is the singer of today’s song. This song is from the 1940 movie ‘Punarmilan’.
‘Punarmilan-1940’, a “social” movie was directed by Najam Naqvi for Bombay Talkies, Bombay. It had Snehprabha, Kishore Sahu, Shah Nawaz, Anjali Devi, Mumtaz Ali, P. F. Pithawala, Sunalini Devi, and S. Baburao, Mumtaz Begam, Mangle and others.
This movie has ten songs penned by lyricists Jamuna Swarup Kashyap, Pradeep, Anand and Pandit Indra. Singers for this movie includes Arun Kumar, Rajkumari, Snehprabha, Ramchandra Pal, and Kishore Sahu.
So far, three songs from this movie ‘Punarmilan-1940’ have been posted on the blog. I am presenting the fourth song from this movie today .
