“Majhdhaar”(1947) was produced and directed by Sohrab Modi for Minerva Movietone, Bombay. This social movie had Khursheed, Surendra, Sadiq Ali, Baby Tabassum, Surekha, Erich Tarapore, Rafiq Ghaznavi, Ghulam Hussain, Faizbai etc in it.
The movie had nine songs in it. As many as three music directors were employed in this movie. They were Ghulam Haider, Gyan Dutt and Anil Biswas. However, all songs of this movie were penned by just one lyricist namely Shams Lucknowi.
Five songs from the movie have been covered in the past. The last song from this movie was covered in 2017.
Here is the sixth song from “Majhdhaar”(1947) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Surendra. Shams Lucknowi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Ghulam Haider.
Only the audio of this song is available, but it is clear that this song was picturised on Surendra herself. Such a nice song seems to have become among lesser known songs of those days.
I notice that in the song the gentleman wonder why his beloved is sulking, and there seems no attempt on his part to set the matters right. 🙂
I have not been able to get the lyrics right at one place where it goes “?dil ye hee pukaare”. I request our readers with keener ears to help fill in the blanks/ suggest corrections as applicable.
