#Bhoole-Bisre Geet # (Sahir Ludhianvi’s 46th Remembrance Day)

Today 25th Ocotber 2025 is the 46th Remembrance Day of the legendary poet-lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi. He was born on 08.03.1921 and he passed away on 25thOctober 1980. Today we pay our tributes to him by listening to a song penned by him.
Out of an estimated 724 songs penned by him for Hindi films, 712 songs have already been posted on this blog. So, very few of his film songs are available to be covered here on this occasion.
Today, I am presenting a song from the 1980 movie ‘Chehre Pe Chehraa’ where all the six songs for this movie were written by Sahir Ludhianvi. Music for this movie was composed by N. Datta who had a very successful collaboration with Sahir Ludhianvi as a composer. And as lyricist-composer they had come up with some unforgetteble and timeless classic songs for Hindi films. If we go through the list of movies (as given above), we have only two movies left that are not YIPPEED in the blog. These two movies are ‘Dilli Ka Daada-1962’ and ‘Chehre Pe Chehra-1980’. ** For ‘Dilli Ka Daada-1962’ only one Sahir song is pending and this song is not available and/or difficult to find.
Today’s movie ‘Chehre Pe Chehraa’ was directed by Raj Tilak, for Tilak Movies, Bombay. Raj Tilak was also the producer of this movie. It had Sanjeev Kumar, Rekha, Vinod Mehra, Sulakshana Pandit, Amol Palekar, Rajani Sharma, Shree Ram Lagoo, Iftekhar, Shammi, Suresh Chatwal, Kumar Aditya, Prem Sagar and others. Shatrughan Sinha and Amjad Khan make special appearance in this movie. Screenplay of this movie was written by Raj Marbrose and dialogues were written by Kadar Khan. Editing of this movie was done by Madhu Sinhaa. This movie had six songs written by Sahir Ludhianvi and composed to music by N. Dutta. Background music for this movie was given by Salil Chaudhary. Manna Dey, Mohd Rafi, Asha Bhonsle and Sulakshana Pandit had given their voices to the songs in this movie.
This movie is said to be based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel ‘Dr. Jeykll & Mr. Hyde’ and it was passed by Censor Board on 21.05.1980 with restricted viewing certificate (i.e. with ‘A’ category certificate). So far three songs from this movie ‘Chehre Pe Chehraa-1980’ have been posted on this blog.
Today I am presenting the fourth song from this movie here. This song is a “missing the beloved” genre of song which is picturised on Sulakshana Pandit. Sanjeev Kumar and Iftekhar are also visible in the picturisation.
This nice song is a lesser heard or rarely heard song as often happens in case of movies that flop at the box office. I have not watched this movie yet, so can’t say much about this movie.
