This rarely heard song from “Gumraah-1976” is sung by Kishore Kumar, written by Asad Bhopali and composed by Usha Khanna.

“Gumraah-1976” was directed by Prem Manik for Sangeetraj Enterprises. It was produced by K.P. Sethi.

The film starred Reena Roy, Subhash Ghai, Danny Denzongpa, Iftekhar, Sheetal, Keshto Mukherjee, Jagirdar, etc.

One song from this movie has already been posted by Avinash Ji. This is the second of the five songs.

Some comments on the IMDB page for this movie are:

When the film was started in 1972, it was titled “Andhi Jawani”
When the film was finally ready for release, the producer’s kept Subash Ghai completely out of the publicity. This was done despite Subhash Ghai being the lead actor of the film. The film poster’s and LP record focused only on Danny Denzongpa, Reena Roy and Subhash Ghai.

As IMDB is an editable website, just like Wikipedia, we can’t take everything at face value.

The synopsis suggests it’s a story of a restless generation that has strayed from the path of discipline and duty.
The official press booklet summary, as recorded in one source, states:

“This film is a story of young world, of youthful… and Rameshes, Rupalis… and Ashokas and Malas and Mahendras of a whole restless generation that is not irretrievably lost. It can quite easily be guided with love to the right path of discipline and duty from which it seems to have strayed. Principal Guptaji and Professor Vaidya show the way with love and affection whom their ‘LOST’ students overwhelm with loving respect and affectionate regards in return.”

Given the cast and the genre (thriller), it’s likely a cautionary tale centered around youth, delinquency, and eventually redemption, with a focus on steering the young characters back to the right path.

Subhash Ghai is lip syncing the song running around the trees with Reena Roy.
