The song in this post is from the movie ‘Apna Khoon Apna Dushman-1969’.
I had presented another song from this movie in the past. “Apna Khoon Apna Dushman-1969” was directed by Kamran for ‘Rainbow Films, Bombay’.
This movie, described as social movie by HFGK Vol-IV (1961-1970) was passed by Censor Board on 07.10.1969. The cast of this movie included Dara Singh, Sanjana, Kamran, Tiwari, Maruti, Meenakshi, Mumtaz Begam, Habib, Anjum, Dilip Dutt, Tun Tun, Fazal Khan, Khurshid Khan, and Shyam Kumar and others. Dialogues for this movie were written by Farooque Qaisar who also wrote the lyrics. This movie has four songs composed by Lala-Sattar.
Our in-house encylopeadia Shree Arunkumar jee had given the details of while commenting on the first song from this movie on this blog. This song ‘tumhaaree chaand si soorat pe’ was presented by our Shree Sudhir jee on 19.11.2011. That was more than fourteen years ago. Subsequently I presented the second song from this movie ‘chhappan chhuree hai meraa naam’ on 18.05.2023.
Here is what Shree Arunkumar jee had mentioned about this movie:
APNA KHOON APNA DUSHMAN-1969 was a revenge story with the background of dacoits.
Thakur Pratap Singh’s young son is kidnapped by Jaggu Daku.He raises the child as Shera Daaku, as Jaggu wants to kill the Thakur in the hands of his own son. Shanker, his accomplice knows this story and plants Ajit as Thakur’s lost son, with artificial birth marks on his shoulders. Ajit is accepted with joy, but after some time Ajit feels guilty and decides to bring Thakur’s real son to him. He goes to Shera and tells everything that he is the real son etc, but apparently, Shera does not believe him and he is captured. Thakur also reaches the place to search for Ajit. He too is captured.
Jaggu is happy and orders Shera to kill both. Shera hesitates and requests Jaggu to release them. They are released, but Jaggu wants them killed secretly. Shera goes against Jaggu, saves Thakur and finally Jaggu is killed in action.
This movie is available on internet. But I have so far not watched this movie. However when I came across this movie during my regular browsing I looked for the remaining song from this movie. That is when I got to listen to this song. The dacoits visit a “bar” after successfully robbing a ‘seth’ Dhaniram. That is when this bar dance takes place.
Meenakshi (?) performs the bar dance lip-syncing in the voice of Asha Bhonsle. Kamran, Dara Singh and many others are also seen in the picturisation. Farooque Qaisar is the lyricist and music is composed by Lala-Sattar.
This is the second bar dance /club-dance song presented by me in the last few days. The earlier such song was from ‘Karmyogi-1978’. In that song, the dance addresses Raj Kumar as ‘jaanee’ which is a term that is associated with Raj Kumar so that was by design.
In this song too, the actor present on screen is addresssed by the dancer as “Jaanee” but here this is used as a generic term to address her client.
