In this post I am presenting a song from the movie ‘Beqaraar-1983’. It was directed by V.B. Rajendra Prasad for ‘Jagpati Art Pictures, Madras’. V.B. Rajendra Prasad was also the producer for this movie and he also wrote the screenplay of this movie. This movie was passed by the Censor Board on 01.08.1983. The cast of this movie has Ashok Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Mohnish Behl, Padmini Kolhapure, Supriya Pathak, Om Shivpuri, Satyen Kappu, Asrani, Mohan Choti, Tez Sapru, Chand Usmani, Poornima, Dulari, Seema, and Yasmeen Khan, Sangeeta Behl, Tulsi Devi, Kirti Singh, Aslam Farshauri, Manmood Khan, Master Manoj, Master Dambu and others.
‘Beqaraar-1983’ has six songs that were written by Anand Bakshi and composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal. I had earlier presented a song from this “social” movie.
‘Beqaraar-1983’ had some nice songs in it. The title song ‘bekaraar bekaraar bekaraar kiyaa’ was very popular during its time. Two Kishore Kumar-Asha Bhonsle duets of this movie were also quite popular. One of them was , viztum chaley aaye chalo khair huyee was the first song from this movie to appear on the blog.
Today I am presenting the second well known duet Kishore Kumar-Asha Bhonsle song from this movie. This song, like the other duet song, is picturised on Sanjay Dutt and Padmini Kolhapure.
Being a ‘social’, “Bekaraar” has all the masala ingredients in it, viz family drama, a little bit of action, melodrama, and also sacrifices.
The story till this song is :
Shyam (Sanjay Dutt) and Pradeep (Mohnish Behl) are close friends. Shyam falls in love with Sundari (Padmini Kolhapure) and it so happens that Sundari gets pregnant before getting married to Shyam. Though Shyam declares his love for Sundari his family does not accept this as they have their commitments to others who have helped them in their bad days. So Shyam has to marry other girl Nisha (Supriya Pathak). Sundari tries to take her own life but is saved. Pradeep who is friend to Shyam marries Sundari to save her from social disgrace.

The song under discussion is chronologically first song of the movie. Sundari joins the same college where Shyam is studying. One student Joginder (Tez Sapru) from the same class tries to molest Sundari on the way where Shyam saves Sundari after a fight with Joginder. Next we have Shyam entering a theatre to watch movie where incidentally Sundari is also watching the movie and Shyam has his seat next to her. Shyam accidentally steps over Sundari’s foot while going to his seat, as the movie had already started. Sundari shouts and people around rise to thrash Shyam. However Sundari saves him. So now watching the movie and watching Sundari Shyam is dreaming of this rocking song sequence with her.
