#the Decade of Sixties – 1961 – 1970 #
———————————————————————
The song in this post is a lesser heard song sung by Asha Bhonsle. It is from the movie ‘Akela-1963’. I do not remember to have listened to any other song from this movie, except the one which has been posted on this blog.
The first song from this movie was posted on this blog long back on 20.03.2014. The song ‘aaj ki raat jawaan allaah allaah’ was presented by our Sudhir jee, and this was the 9600th post on the blog. This post was also the 1600th song of Asha Bhonsle on the blog. So this post was mainly about the celebration of ‘blog century’ alongwith the singing career of Asha Bhonsle in Hindi Films. Sudhir jee also mentioned the following about the song ‘aaj ki raat jawaan allaah allaah’.
Regardless, a fabulous song that used to be heard quite a bit on the radio in the 1960s. As the song starts, the lead in music will give you the sudden flavour of the 1960s dance music. And with Asha ji’s voice picking up the words, it is such a delightful treat. It is gems like these that need to be revived in the memory of the listeners.
He had also mentioned the following about how the above song was selected for that 9600th post.
When Atul ji and I talked about this post and the milestone for Asha ji, I had suggested doing a song from this film. I had selected one song, but then I made a switch at the last moment, and am presenting a different song from the same film. The reason for that switch – well another post in very near future should clarify.
There was little information about the movie in the above post. This social movie ‘Akela-1963’ was directed J.B for Filmdom, Bombay. It had Balraj Sahni, Sulochana, Lalita Pawar, Dhumal, Sadhna Chaudhary, Maruti, Daisy, Honey, Murad and others.
This movie has six songs which were all written by lyricist Rajinder Krishan. Music for this movie was composed by N. Datta. All the six songs are solo songs (as per the information in Geet Kosh) and all of them have been sung by Asha Bhonsle only.
Let us listen to the second song from the movie ‘Akela-1963’. This song seems to be a ‘female drunkard’ song.
Song-Rangeen paanee ke dhokhe mein laa ke (Akela)(1963) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyricist-Rajinder Krishan, MD-N Datta
Lyrics
laa…
