This song is from the 1983 movie ‘Beqaraar-1983’.
I have presented two songs from this movie in the past. This movie ‘Beqaraar-1983’ was directed by V.B. Rajendra Prasad for ‘Jagpati Art Pictures, Madras’. V.B. Rajendra Prasad was also the producer of this movie. He also wrote the screenplay of this movie. The cast of this movie has Ashok Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Mohnish Behl, Padmini Kolhapure, Supriya Pathak, Om Shivpuri, Satyen Kappu, Asrani, Mohan Choti, Tez Sapru, Chand Usmani, Poornima, Dulari, Seema, and Yasmeen Khan, Sangeeta Behl, Tulsi Devi, Kirti Singh, Aslam Farshauri, Manmood Khan, Master Manoj, Master Dambu and others.
‘Bekaraar-1983’ is a ‘social movie’ containing all the ingredients of a family drama including some action, lots of melodrama and last but not the least, sacrifices.
The story of this movie can be summarised as:-
Shyam (Sanjay Dutt) and Pradeep (Mohnish Behl) are close friends. Shyam falls in love with Sundari (Padmini Kolhapure) and it so happens that Sundari gets pregnant before getting married to Shyam. Though Shyam declares his love for Sundari his family does not accept this as they have commitments to others who have helped them in their bad days. Thus, Shyam has to marry another girl Nisha (Supriya Pathak). Sundari tries to take her own life but is saved. Pradeep, who is friend to Shyam, marries Sundari to save her from social disgrace. How the story in this movie concludes is what is to be watched in the movie.
‘Beqaraar-1983’ has six songs written by Anand Bakshi and composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal. The songs in this movie go well with the storyline and they help the story to move forward.
The first two songs in this movie are regular romantic songs where we have Shyam (Sanjay Dutt) and Sundari (Padmini Kolhapure) enjoying their romantic relationship after falling in love and spending time with each other. Both these duet songs are already posted on the blog.
The song under discussion is chronologically the third song in this movie, and it can be considered to be a turning point in the movie where, as the song nears the end, Shyam slips away from the stage and spends some intimate moments (‘naazuk pal’ in the terminology of a popular present day serial 🙂 ) with Sundari while the song performance is still going on and Pradeep wondering where Shyam vanished.
This song is picturised as part of cultural programme in annual day function in the college where Shyam, Sundari and Pradeep are studying. Shyam (Sanjay Dutt) and Pradeep (Mohnish Behl) perform on the stage on this song with their friends.
This song I guess was the most popular song of this movie during its time. Amit Kumar and Shailendra Singh are singers. Lyrics are by Anand Bakshi and music is composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.
