Hullo Atuldom

“Mahaan” (1983) was a film that released in my teenage years & released in the summer holidays of 1983. I have seen it then & a number of times after that. It was produced by Satyanarayana & A. Suryanarayana; directed by S. Ramanathan. Anjaan wrote the songs which were tuned by R.D. Burman. Waheeda Rehman, Amitabh Bachchan, Amjad Khan, Zeenat Aman, Parveen Babi, Shakti Kapoor, Ashok Kumar, Mac Mohan, Urmila Bhatt, Mukri, Nandita Thakur, Aruna Irani, Sujit Kumar etc. etc. & Kadar Khan were the actors/ stars in the film. The film was the official remake of the Kannada film ‘Shankar Guru’ (1978).

The film was the story of a lawyer (father Amitabh) who has an artist/ painter wife (Waheeda Rehman). He has a friend (Amjad Khan) who is sent to jail for possession of drugs by the lawyer with the intention that the friend will get reformed. The friend comes out with revenge in mind, kills his business associate (Sujit Kumar) & frames the lawyer. This forces the lawyer to run to escape arrest, but in the process he is separated from his wife who is pregnant at the time. She gives birth to twins but isn’t aware of it i.e. she doesn’t know that one of the twin has been handed over to a lady who has given birth to a still-born for the 3rd time. The boys grow up to be cop & dramatist (Nautanki should be the right word here), fall in love with beautiful girls, land up in Kathmandu. Their roads cross at the palace of their father who has taken refuge there & is the guardian of one of the beauties. The family comes together after all complications are resolved.

The film had seven songs with Jidhar dekhoon teri tasweer nazar aati hai being a multi-version song. Both the versions were in male voices of Kishore Kumar & Amitabh Bachchan. Amit Kumar, Asha Bhonsle & RD Burman were the other playback singers in the film. The following are the songs of the film are on the blog :_

Song Date of post Remarks
Jidhar dekhoon teri tasweer nazar aati hai 22 September 2010 Multiple version song
Aadhi baat ho chuki tu aadhi baat kar le 22 September 2020 (post by Avinashji, part of BTYC)
Har chhori raani yahaan har chhora raaja 11 October 2022

Today we are having the next song on the occasion of the 11th death anniversary of S. Ramanathan. He began as an assistant director in the 1950s and he became a director from 1958. He went on to direct & produce many Kannada films till 1971/72 when he directed his first Hindi film ‘Bombay To Goa’. He went on to make 10 more films in Hindi.

Today’s song is the pre-climax song where the two brothers are dancing around in a Gym owned by Amjad Khan. The family have all reached there, one after the other. I have seen the film a number of times but I can’t remember how the ladies landed there. (need to see the film again). The song is in the voices of Kishore Kumar & Amit Kumar.

Hullo Atuldom

“Adharm” (1992) was a movie that was produced by Nitin Manmohan & directed By Aziz Sajawal. The songs were written by Sameer (son of yesteryear lyricist Anjaan) & composed by Anand- Milind (sons of yesteryear composer Chitragupt). Shatrughan Sinha, Shabana Azmi, Sanjay Dutt, Anita Raj formed the main protagonists with Kiran Kumar, Paresh Rawal & Gulshan Grover being on the opposite side of the law. Shakti Kapoor played an adorable chacha to Sanjay Dutt & Anita Raj. Vikram Gokhale, Asrani, Rakesh Pandey, Aroon Bakshi, Tej Sapru, Avtar Gill, Mac Mohan etc forming the rest of the supporting cast.

The film had a straight forward plot wherein Shatrughan Sinha- a police officer & Shabana Azmi (his wife) are responsible bhaiyya & bhabhi to Sanjay Dutt (who has grown up to be a good-looking young man in the absence of bade bhaiyya). As the film progresses we are fed with the reason why bhaiyya was not around, he was serving a 14-year term on charges that were foisted on him. Bhabhi, with the friendly neighbourhood Makhan Singh’s (Shakti Kapoor) help looks after the needs of the house, education of the devar etc. The reason for the jail-term are chacha (Kiran Kumar) of the family and his scheming ways, ably assisted by his sons (Paresh Rawal & Gulshan Grover). The reason for the sour relations between the two branches of the family is the ownership of the family property ‘Dharm Nivas’.

The film follows the time-tested route of the younger brother, initially, working for his estranged cousins, unaware of the facts of the family. Then he teams up with his older brother to iron out issues, with the evil-cousins paying the price for all their scheming ways. In all these, Makhan Singh is a pillar of support for the brothers. Thus, the film comes to “The End”.

Today’s song is in the voices of Amit Kumar & Arun Bakshi. It has Sanjay Dutt and Shakti Kapoor prancing about the streets in the middle of the night.
A few years back, I had sent this as my post to wish Shakti Kapoor on his birthday. That post had a lot of my thoughts vis-a-vis this multi talented actor. I had spoken of how he made his way into the collective mindset of his fans etc. He has had a long innings in the entertainment world and is still active.

That post of mine also featured Sanjay Dutt & Shakti Kapoor dancing, but as competitors.

I thought of today’s song after the success of Chandrayaan 3 & the successful launch of Aditya L1. No, no, don’t get me wrong. The song doesn’t have anything scientific, neither does it touch the antariksh (space). It just says “aasman ko dharti pe laanewala chahiye.”

Lets enjoy.

Hullo Atuldom

27th June – a favorite music director, singer and one-time actor would have turned 84. His name at birth was Rahul and his parents were Meera & Sachin Dev Burman. Yes, we are thinking of the music influencer who was active from the 1960s to the 1990s – Rahul Dev Burman who was also fondly addressed as Pancham.

He had music in his genes as his father was a well-loved composer and his mother was a Bengali singer and lyricist. It seems his first tunes were used in films as early as 1956/57. He was trained by Ustad Ali Akbar Khan and Pt Samta Prasad. He also considered Salil Chowdhury as his guru. He was an assistant to his father in films like ‘Chalti Ka naam Gaadi’ (1958), ‘Kaagaz Ke Phool’ (1959) and some more films before Mehmood signed him on for giving music to his home production ‘Chhote Nawab’ which released in 1961.

But why am I writing all these ? Which follower of Hindi Film music is not aware of Pancham Da’s background/ biography. We, the followers of HFM, also know that RD Burman has enriched close to 331 films with 1755 (approximately) songs. Of these, the blog has 811. That is we are halfway to having all songs composed by Pancham Da. We still have a huge library of songs to choose from for this post.

Today let us have a romantic song from the 1981 film ‘Love Story’. The film is produced  by Rajendra Kumar and jointly directed by him and Rahul Rawail. This was the launch vehicle for star-son Kumar Gaurav, with Vijayta Pandit as his co-star. Danny and Vidya Sinha played the girl’s parents while Rajendra Kumar played the boy’s father (Bina played the mother who dies during child birth). Amjad Khan, Aruna Irani, Gufi Paintal (he passed away recently, may his soul rest in peace) etc. formed the supporting cast. Anand Bakshi and RD Burman gave us some hummable songs which are popular to this day.

The post on the song “Dekho Maine Dekha Hai Ye Ik Sapna” by Nahmji gives more details of the movie, and it makes a good read.

Let us enjoy the song which falls under the ‘sulking-appeasing’ category. It has Lata Mangeshkar and Amit Kumar giving playback for the young couple.

#the Decade of Eighties – 1981 – 1990 #
————————————————————————

(The movie – ‘Saaraansh-1984’)

“Saaraansh-1984” is a landmark movie in the careers of director Mahesh Bhatt and debutant actor Anupam Kher.

The two songs in the movie were composed by Ajit Varman. A detailed writeup on him was posted in the blog, penned by Peevesie’s mom jee.

Varman, born in Calcutta in 1947, was fascinated by Music from early childhood, and had a flair for it. He ran away from home when he was sixteen. Living rough for the next few years, he learnt music (vocals, piano, harmonium, drums ) on the go. He calls piano a ‘complete musical instrument. He would loiter about while a church choir sang or would peep into Salil Chaudhary’s home when he was rehearsing a tune. Noting the boy’s interest in music Salil Da took him at musician in his orchestra. He got a chance to work with Pankaj Mullick, Satyajit Ray and Hemant Kumar too.

Varman came to Bombay (Mumbai) in 1970 to join Salil Da, who was an established composer by then. The soft bongo in Anand’s ‘kahin door jab din dhhal jaaye’ was played by Varman. A chance encounter with music arranger Sebastian D’ Souza opened the doors to the orchestra of Shankar-Jaikishan who were working on ‘Mera Naam Joker’. He later worked with Laxmikant-Pyarelal too.

The credits of low budget Muslim social ‘Noor E Ilaahi-1976’ shows Babloo-Dheeraj as music directors. Babloo actually is the nickname of Ajit Varman. The songs were well received, but, the partnership didn’t last.

(Among beautiful Sufiyana Qawwalis, romantic duets and bidai songs, there is a good rendition by Anwar of Bahadur Shah Jafar’s ‘Na kisi ki aankh ka noor hoon’, immortalized by Rafi Saab and S.N. Tripathi in Laal Quilaa-1960.).

Varman and Govind Nihalani stayed in the same lodge in Bandra (?) and Nihalani was aware of Varman’s prowess for and ability in music. ‘If ever, I become a director, you will be my composer’ the ace cinematographer had said. He kept his word when he debuted as a director with ‘Aakrosh-1980’. The gripping tale had fitting back ground music and for the song ‘kaanha re’ Varman received ‘Sur-Singaar Samsad’s’ Swami Haridas award. He recreated the magic again in Nihalani’s next movie ‘Vijeta-1982’ and ‘Ardh-Satya-1983’.

He worked with Mahesh Bhatt in ‘Saaraansh-1984’, ‘Janam-1985’ and ‘Jeewan Sandhya-1984 (Tele film). His total movies are about twenty plus. ‘Yeh Aashiqui Meri’ was his last. ‘Life is Beautiful-20212’ has his back ground score.

He took pride in being a musician, arranger, conductor and composer all himself. He scored music for several ‘tele-serials’ – Imtihaan, Agni, Apne Jaise types.

Believing firmly in work ethics and not lobbying for work, the assignments stopped coming. Married twice, both marriages ended in divorce. I think he had one son and one daughter. Poverty and ill-health led to depression. He died a lonely death in a Mumbai Hospital on 15th December’2016. The neighbors had to pool money for his treatment and funeral with zero help/attendance from the film industry.

The song under discussion is the second and final song of ‘Saaraansh’. Touching lyrics by Vasant Dev, beautifully sung by Amit Kumar (who sang the most number of Varman’s songs). The picturisation will make you emotional with ‘dard’ almost palpable on Anupam Kher’s face. Rohini Hattangadi, Soni Razdan, Madan Jain are among the others seen here.

Vasant Dev received the ‘best lyricist’ award at the 32nd National Film Awards.

With this song ‘Saaraansh-1984’ gets ‘Yippeeee’ed’ on the blog. Perhaps it is the first time when a movie with more than one song is being ‘Yippeeee’ed on the same day of its debut.

I am immensely grateful to dear Avinash ji for his technical support/assistance. He did it willingly as if it were his own post. I stand indebted Avinash ji. But, the troubles have just started for you Avinash ji!! 🙂

Let us listen to this song, “har ghadi dhhal rahi shaam hai”- just as sun is setting in the west.

(Note – I have tried to compile the above table with as much accuracy as possible based on the information available in HFGK Vol-VI (1981-1985) and Hindi Filmography (1986-2000). I would request readers to suggest additions/ corrections if anything is missing. I would also like to apologise if there is any mistake on my part while compiling this table. We will be further adding the filmography of Pancham for the decade 1971-1980 and earlier than that, and also movies further after 1990 to have a complete filmography of Pancham in the future on the blog.).

Till then let us enjoy today’s song composed by Pancham…

Let us pay our tributes to Pancham and thank him for all the great music which he left behind us to enjoy.

Kis ki sadaayen mujhko bulaayen Red Rose(1980) (Lyrics by Prakashchandraji) 9:10 pm
Shakti de maa Ashaanti(1982) (Lyrics by Avinashji) 9:40 pm

29/12/2012 was a Saturday. As can be seen from the above list Atulji posted the first song at 7.38 in the morning. 12 songs were posted, 6 of which were guest posts from which 4 were by Sudhirji (he was also very active on the blog then) and one each by Nahmji & Arunkumarji.

The last three posts on that date had lyrics contributed by Avinashji, Prakashchandraji and Khyatiji; all three of which were songs featuring Rajesh Khanna for his birthday. It was the first birthdate after Kaka’s death in July that year; we were remembering him on what would have been his 70th birthday.

The song that was contributed by Avinashji was from “Ashanti” an Eagle Film’s production. Hatt jaao deewaane aaye was a song from the 1960 release “Singapore” which was also an Eagle Films’ production that was directed by Shakti Samanta. (that must have been unplanned, I am sure).

“Ashanti” (1982), a movie produced by Parvesh Mehra & Rajiv Mehra of Eagle Film’s and directed by Umesh Mehra. It had music by R.D. Burman with Anand Bakshi as the lyricist. Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Kishore Kumar, Amit Kumar, Shailendra Singh were the playback singers used. The following three songs from this movie are on the blog.

Shakti de maa 29 december 2012
Laungi mirchi main Kolhapur ki 19 November 2019
Na tujhse na mujhse 29 December 2021

“Ashanti” was one of the multi-starrers of that year. It had Rajesh Khanna heading a cast of Shabana Azmi, Zeenat Aman, Parveen Babi, Mithun Chakravarthy, Kanwaljeet, Amrish Puri, Satyen Kappu, Jeevan Ramesh Deo, Nadira, Pinchoo kapoor, Narendranath, Monty Nath, and many more known faces that formed the supporting cast. It was an action film and was the story of an honest & dedicated police officer played by Rajesh Khanna who intercepts a bank robbery but is himself caught with the suitcase of stolen money, tried in the court and jailed. Further twists in the tale lead him to loosing a leg too. On his release from prison he seeks out the wrong doers and for this he has help from the three heroines and Shankar Dada played by Mithun. If my memory is correct, one of the heroines is also the lost daughter of Amrish Puri who is the cause of all the troubles of the police officer. The movie comes to a close after a lot of drama and high voltage action.

Today’s song has the voices of Asha Bhonsle and Amit Kumar. The song is picturised as a disco dance song on Zeenat Aman and Kanwaljeet. Rajesh Khanna is present among the audience. He is seen seated around a table with Shabana Azmi and he is seen looking furtively as befits a police officer on an important sectet mission.

Missing Kaka a.k.a Rajesh (first Superstar of Bollywood) Khanna on what would have been his 80th birthday.

Song-Dil diya hai maine dil liya hai (Ashaanti)(1982) Asha Bhonsle, Amit Kumar Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-R D Burman
Both

Lyrics

aaa
dil diya hai maine dil liya hai
ya ya yaad rakhna
arey haan kisi se maine pyaar kiya hai
ya ya yaad rakhna
mere dilbar ka jaane jigar ka
mere dil pe naam likha hai
ku ku
dil diya hai
maine dil liya hai
ya ya yaad rakhna
arre haan kisi se maine pyaar kiya hai
ya ya yaad rakhna

meri mohabbat ke liye
pyaar bhara dil laaye ho
mujhko mager afsos hai
tum zara der se aaye ho
haath kisi ne mera thhaam liya hai
ya ya yaad rakhna
mere dilbar ka jane jigar ka
mere dil pe naam likha hai
ku ku
dil diya hai
maine dil liya hai
ya ya yaad rakhna
haan kisi se maine pyaar kiya hai
ya ya yaad rakhna

Chorus

meri nigaahon pe teri
zulfon ka baadal chhaa gaya
jhoom ke baadal ki tarah
tera deewaana aa gaya
dil ne tujhe
phir yaad kiya hai
ya ya yaad rakhana
mere dilbar ka
jaane jigar ka
mere dil pe
naam likha hai
ku ku
dil diya hai
maine dil liya hai
ya ya yaad rakhna
haan kisi se maine pyaar kiya hai
ya ya yaad rakhna

sab ki nazar ke saamne
duniya se ye kehna hai
haan haan
aa aa a
ha ha aa ha aa
tumse juda ho kar hamen
duniya me hame nahi rehna hai

jaan se bichhad ke kaun jiya hai
ya ya yaad rakhna
ho mere dilbar ka
jaane jigar ka
mere dil pe
naam likha hai
kuku
dil diya hai
maine dil liya hai
ya ya yaad rakhna
haan kisi se maine pyaar kiya hai
ya ya yaad rakhna

Hullo Atuldom

Todays’ song is from a forgotten movie of the late 1970s “Bagula Bhagat” (1979). It was directed by Harmesh Malhotra and produced by Gullu Sippy. It had a cast of Ashok Kumar, Shatrughan Sinha, Shabana Azmi, Kamini Kaushal, Padma Khanna, Mehmood Jr. etc. I think I saw a short video of the movie online somewhere and think I spied Anwar Hussain and Goga Kapoor as his henchman. It had music by Kalyanji Anandji and songs written by Anjaan. Kishore Kumar, Mahendra Kapoor, Amit Kumar and Asha Bhonsle as playback singers. The movie was written by Subhash Ghai and Bhalla.

I have no clue about the story of the movie, date of release etc. I landed on this movie in my quest for a song lip-synced by Ashok Kumar and sung by Kishore Kumar. I found the video of the movie on YouTube which is uploaded in three parts. It begins with a convict’s failed attempt at jumping a prison. Shatrughan Sinha plays a smart-alec who does small odd jobs of helping smugglers transport their illicit stuff for small remunerations. He is assigned a task by Anwar Hussain to help someone escape from prison.

The song with this post is when Shatru lands in prison to finish the assignment given and sees Ashok Kumar being hailed as a prisoner who is well known amongst inmates. Kishore Kumar is the voice for his brother Ashok Kumar and Amit Kumar sings for Shatru.

The song reminds of ‘do bechaare bina sahare’, from Victoria No. 203. There was a period in the 70s when we had many such Kishore Kumar- Ashok Kumar songs meaning Kishoreda singing for Dada Moni. And my hope is that we don’t run out of such songs as they are best to remember the brothers on their anniversaries. 13th October is Dada Moni Ashok Kumar’s birth anniversay and Kishoreda’s death anniversary. This pair of brothers have been responsible for entertaining audiences from the 30s when Dada Moni stepped into Bombay Talkies as lab assistant. And after a few years he stepped in front of the camera it is a different matter that he had not hankered after that career. He was busy in front of the screen for almost six decades.

Kishoreda, Dada Moni’s youngest brother, began his career as a chorus singer at Bombay Talkies and got his first independent break in 1948 with “Ziddi”. His first screen appearance may have been in 1946 “Shikari” which starred his older brother but he played the lead for the first time in 1951. He has more discography to his name compared to filmography. But this was one entertaining family where their sister was married to a producer, their other brother was also an actor. Amit Kumar followed his dad of being a singer/actor and Preethi Ganguly also went on to become an actor. Dada Moni’s granddaughter is actress Anuradha Patel, son-in-law was Deven Verma. So much talent in one family.

Thinking of the Ganguly brothers Ashok Kumar and Kishore Kumar .

Song-Kya kya armaan dil mein thhe apne (Bagula Bhagat)(1979) Singers-Kishore Kumar, Amit Kumar, Lyrics-Anjaan, MD-Kalyanji Anandji

arre sapne reh gaye

Blog Day :

5137 Post No. : 17094

Today (11 August 2022) is Rakshabandhan. This is the 15th Rakshabandhan for this blog. The first Rakshabandhan for the blog fell on 16 August 2008. That day saw the iconic Rakshabandhan song namely Bhaiyya mere raakhi ke bandhan ko nibhaana (Chhoti Bahan)(1959) getting covered on the blog.

On those early days, only one song was discussed in a day. Subsequently multiple songs began to be covered daily. Festival days were no exception. So more than one Rakshabandhan songs were also discussed in the subsequent occasions.

Till now as many as 24 Rakshabandhan songs have been covered on the blog. Most of these songs (if not all) are sung in the female voice and lip synced by a female character playing the Rakhi tying sister.

The Rakshabandhan song under discussion today is different in quite a few respects. It is sung by a male singer. It is a “sales pitch” song where Rakhi is being sold. The song is sung by Amit Kumar (though HFGK is silent about the name of the singer). It is picturised on Vinod Khanna disguised as an old Rakhi seller. So this song is a “disguise” song as well. Rakesh Roshan and Pradeep Kumar are also seen in the picturisation.

This song is from ‘Hatyaara’ (1977). The movie was produced by Sunil Sharma and JR Shah and directed by Surendra Mohan for Sunil Arts, Bombay. The movie had Vinod Khanna, Moushumi Chatterjee, Rakesh Roshan, Priyadarshini, Nirupa Roy, Pran, Dev Kumar, Man Mohan, Kanahiyalal, Raj Mehra, Chand Usmani, Abhi Bhattacharya, Sunder, Gulshan Bawra, Sahu Modak, Johny Whisky, Sabeena, Shyam, Shefali, Rajkumar, Premji, Bihari, Moolchand, Hamid, Raj Malhotra, Rajkishore, Nazir Kashmiri, Omi, Harun Khan, CL Shah, Jugnu, Kedarnath Sehgal, Chandrima Bhaduri, Baby Prerna, Master Bittu, Master Raju, Master Rajesh Valecha etc. The movie also had guest appearances by Pradeep Kumar, Laxmi Chhaaya and Mehmood.

The movie had five songs in it. One song has been covered so far.

Here is this second song from ‘Hatyaara’ (1977). The movie had three lyricists in it but the lyricist of this song is no known. This song only appears in the movie. Its records were not made. Music direction was by Kalyanji Anandji.

I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the missing details of the song (viz lyricist).

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

The blog completes 14 years of its existence today (19 july 2008-19 july 2022).

Blog Day :

5114 Post No. : 17060

Today 19th of July 2022 we celebrate the birthday of this blog. Regulars on the blog are aware that this blog was started on 19th of July 2008. So, today the blog celebrates its’ fifteenth birthday.

Normally on this occasion we enjoy birthday songs, ‘saalgirah’ songs, ‘party’ songs, or sometimes ‘bringing memories back’ songs or songs that are filled with ‘nostalgia’ as I have shared them earlier on the birthday of the blog.

But, today, I am approaching this post differently and I will not repeat what I have earlier said about the blog and my love for this blog and how this blog has become a part of my life since I become associated with it.

So today, instead of playing a song for the blog we will enjoy a song ‘as the blog is singing for us’ 😊

Yes, the blog in its teens now have already achieved a unique position on online platforms and in the coming days its’ achievements are only going to be increase by leaps and bounds and further …

So, the blog is happy about its growth and feels like singing today for all of us, and when this blog sings the whole universe sings 😊obviously …

Just imagine that the ‘shokh kaliyaan’ are the newer posts appearing on the blog daily and songs which are rare, unheard, never known or even known songs but accompanied with information, details, trivia, nostalgia and much more … And when the new posts arrived the ‘heart’ of the readers automatically starts throbbing. The readers are the ‘mast’ ‘flowers’, and when their heart starts throbbing the whole atmosphere becomes jovial and enjoying ..

‘jhoomkar partbaton pe ghataa chhaa rahi hai’ … these are the special occasions like anniversaries of artistes, centuries of the artistes or blog members when we expect the blog to ‘rain’ the ‘posts’ especially from our seniors like Arun ji, Sudhir ji, Atul ji, Sadanand ji, Raha Saab, Shenoy Sir ji, Nahm ji, Nalini ji, Gajendra ji and others. And posts coming under ‘blog ten-year challenge’ with contributions raining from Prakashchandra ji.

By the way Arun ji’s posts coming on the blog itself makes the day a ‘special occasion’ as and when the posts come.

All the posts appearing carry forward the story of ‘love and passion’ for ‘music’ and for the ‘blog’. Every day the blog feels ‘pyaar ki umr shaayad kareeb aa rahi hai’ unaware of how much we all love it …The blog happily continues with its ‘pyaar ki daastaan’ every day.

‘bhool kar raah koyi haseen aa na jaaye’ … These are the new readers coming into the contact of this blog and falling in love with this blog. Even the ‘pardaa nasheen’ have to take care or they will fall in love with this blog.

From its side the blog already alerts you ‘is jagah aaj ek naujawaan’ gaa rahaa hai … (its ‘age’ doesn’t matter 😊 it’s an adolescent growing into youth😊)

‘ye zameen gaa rahi hai
aasmaan gaa rahaa hai
saath mere
ye saara jahaan gaa rahaa hai’

Happy birthday ‘atulsongaday’…!!!

Enjoy today’s melodious composition by Pancham Da with the beautiful verses of Anand Bakshi and rendered lovingly by Amit Kumar.

Today’s song is from the ‘1982’ movie ‘Teri Kasam’.

In the movie Kumar Gaurav lip-syncs the song. Poonam Dhillon and others can also be seen in the picturization of this song …

shokh kaliyon ke ghoonghat

mast phoolon ke dil bhi

ye bahaaron ka dilkash samaa

ye zameen gaa rahi hai
aasmaan gaa rahaa hai
saath mere

jhoom kar parbaton pe
ghataa chhaa rahi hai
pyaar ki umr shaayad

mera dil pyaar ki ye
daastaan gaa rahaa hai
saath mere ye saara jahaan

ye zameen gaa rahi hai
aasmaan gaa rahaa hai
saath mere

bhool kar raah koyi haseen
aa na jaaye
bhool kar raah koyi haseen
aa na jaaye
is jagah koyi pardaa-nasheen
aa na jaaye
is jagah aaj ek naujawaan
gaa rahaa hai
saath mere ye saara jahaan
gaa rahaa hai
ye zameen gaa rahi hai
aasmaan gaa rahaa hai
saath mere
ye saara jahaan gaa rahaa hai

laa laa laa laal
la la laa
la la laa laa laa laa aa

Blog 10-Year Challenge (2012-2022) – Song No. 60
————————————————————————————–

Welcome all to this post under ‘blog ten year challenge 2012-2022’.

Ten years back on this day i.e. 03rd July’2012, as many as seven songs from seven different movies were covered on the blog.

The details of these songs are as given below:-

Song Title Name of the movie (Year) Remarks
Aise machal ke nain badal ke Do Gunde(1959) Movie Yippeeee’ed by now
Phoolon se dosti hai Duniya Jhukti Hai(1960) 2 of 8 songs posted
Chadhe chanda to tum bhi chale aana Aplam Chaplam(1961) 3 of 7 songs posted
Dhaley din aise Laal Kothi(1978) 1 of 4 songs posted
Kaa jaanoon main sajaniyaa Hum Paanch(1980) 3 of 6 songs posted
Jaan e jaan dhoondhta phir rahaa Jawaani Deewaani(1972) Movie Yippeeee’ed by now
Dil ki baat kahin lab pe na aa jaaye Teri Qasam(1982) 1 of 6 songs posted

From the above table we can see that only two movies out of seven movies represented on the blog on that day have since been ‘Yippeeee’ed on the blog.

This means that five movies are eligible for blog ten year challenge today (3 July 2022).

I am presenting a song from the ‘1982’ movie ‘Teri Qasam’.

Today 3rd July’2022 is also the seventieth birthday of Singer Amit Kumar (born on 3rd July’1952). On this occasion I am presenting a song from ‘Teri Qasam’ which is sung by Amit Kumar.

‘Teri Qasam-1982’ was directed by A.C. Trilokchander for ‘Navjeevan Productions, Bombay’. It was produced by Titu.

It had Kumar Gaurav, Poonam Dhillon, Girish Karnad, Ranjeeta, Nirupa Roy, Monty, Paintal, Jyoti Bakshi, Neelu Arora, Najma, Rakesh Bedi, Mushtaq Merchant, Kanti, Manmouji, Birbal, S.P. Chaturvedi, Dinkar Chaudhary, Meghdoot, Bhola, Shivraj, Babli, Gauri Verma, Raj Bachchan and others.

This movie introduced Shiv Kapoor.

Padmini Kapila, Mukul Agrawal made special appearances in this movie while music director Laxmikant had a guest appearance in this movie.

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 25.05.1982.

This movie had six songs thatwere written by Anand Bakshi R.D. Burman was the music director.

Here is the list of songs of “Teri Kasam”(1982):-.

Sr.No. Song Title Singer/s
01 Ham jis raste pe chale us raste pe thhi preet khadi Lata Mangeshkar, Amit Kumar
02 Ye zameen gaa rahi hai aasmaan gaa rahaa hai Amit Kumar
03 Gee two hai haan jee haan, gee two hai Amit Kumar
04 Kya huaa ek baat par barson ka yaraana gaya Amit Kumar
05 Mere geeton mein meri kahaaniyaan hai Amit Kumar
06 Dil ki baat kahin lab pe na aa jaaye Amit Kumar

Only one song from this movie has been posted on the blog and that was ten years ago on 03.07.2012. It means that this movie has completed its ten years run on the blog with only one of its songs posted.

While presenting the first song from this movie on the blog, Atul ji has given his opinion why Kumar Gaurav turned to be a failure after his debutant ‘big-hit’ movie ‘Love Story’.
Though Atul ji has mentioned that the music of this movie was composed by R.D. Burman but ‘he did not enjoy the songs of this movie’ may be because he didn’t like this movie.
But I would like to mention here that I liked all the songs of this movie very much. I had watched this movie, and I have no recollections whether I had liked at that time. But Pancham Da has given a very nice musical score ino this movie. All the songs from this movie are very good. However, only one song from this movie made it to the annual list of ‘Binaca Geetmala’ of that year 1982. This song ‘ye zameen gaa rahi hai’ stood at 22nd position.

We will be enjoying the others songs from this movie in the future.

Today we are going to listen to the second song from this movie.

This song sung by Amit Kumar is a nice song from this movie which is lip synced by Kumar Gaurav. From the picturisation of this song the song seems to be a stage show song wherein we can also see Poonam Dhillon and many other artists seated among the audience.

Let us now listen to today’s song which seems to happen after the two lovers (Kumar Gaurav and Poonam Dhillon) get estranged over some misunderstanding 🙂

Wishing Amit Kumar a very happy birthday today and a healthy and peaceful life ahead …
