“Gehra Zakhm”(1981) was produced by M P Jain and directed by Deepak Bahri for Grand movies, Bombay. This social movie had Vinod Mehra, Ranjeeta, Jagdeep, Om Shivpuri, Neelam, Satyen Kappu, Shashi Kiran, Sheetal, Kader Khan, Amjad Khan, Bhagwan, Sundar, Jankidas, Dhumal, Mohan Choti, Birbal, Cocacola, Dilip Dutt, Dhanraj, Jagdish Raj, Moolchand, Gurbachan Singh, Viju Khote, Raja Duggal, Jugnu, Manmauji, Leena Das, Master Mayur, Master Titu, Master Ravi etc in it. This movie also introduced debutant actors Sudarshan Sharma, Narinder Batra, Pradeep Jain, Iqbal, Gopraj and Black Billi.
“Gehra Zakhm”(1981) had five songs in it that were penned by two lyricists (Nida Fazli three songs and Vitthal Bhai Patel 2 songs).
One song from the movie has been covered in the past. Here is the second song from the movie to appear in the blog. This song is a duet which is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Kishore Kumar. If this song failed to get popular during its time then the reason could be that this movie and its songs failed to enthuse the movie lovers and music lovers of those days, who arguably had more popular songs to listen to.
The song is picturised on Ranjeeta and Vinod Mehra, who to my mind lacked the charisma to attract mainstream movie goers to the movie halls and that explains the reason why I was neither aware of this movie nor its songs when this movie was released in 1981.
Vithhal Bhai Patel is the lyricist. Music is composed by R D Burman.
I became aware of this song just a few days ago. After listening to this song a couple of times, it has started to sound like a wonderful song to me. Too bad that this song did not get the opportunity to be heard by the mainstream music lovers of those days.
