In this post I am presenting a ‘club-dance-song’ sung by Suman Kalyanpur. I came across this song only yesterday. Songs are this genre is mostly sung by Asha Bhonsle and we have been listening to many such Asha Bhonsle songs on this blog these days. So when I came across this song in the voice of Suman Kalyanpur I thought I should present it here.
I have no idea how many such songs Suman Kalyanpur has sung in Hindi Films. This song is picturised as a typical 1970s club dance song on Jayshree T.
This song is from the movie ‘Apraadhi-1974’. One song from this movie has been presented on this blog by our Respected Sudhir jee.I am reproducing below what he said about this movie while introducing it on the blog.
The film is ‘Apraadhi’ from 1974. I checked and find that this film is making its debut today on the blog. The film comes from the banner of CS Productions, Bombay and it is directed by Jugal Kishore, a name that is quite well familiar I am sure. The lead pair in this film is Kiran Kumar and Yogita Bali. The rest of the cast is listed, as per Geet Kosh – Imtiaz, Jayshree T, Chandrashekhar, Bhagwan, Jagdish Raj, Rajan Haksar, Keshto Mukherjee, Mohan Sherry, Brahmachari, Maruti, Gopal Sehgal, Mumtaz Begum, Shri Bhagwan, Baby Neeta, Master Vijay, Satya Devi, Ratna, Narinder, Sattar, Rajpal, Omi Chopra, Bholanath, Madhu, Sheila, Geeta, Gope, Jugal Kishore, and Shashi Chauhan.
The film has 4 songs. All songs have been penned by Hasrat Jaipuri and the music is composed by Usha Khanna. The song list has one solo song by Mukesh, two solo songs by Suman Kalyanpur, and one duet of Suman Kalyanpur with Mahendra Kapoor.
The film is a crime thriller, with Kiran Kumar playing the role of a police inspector who goes underground in disguise to track drug dealer and a murderer.
To add to the above information, this movie ‘Apraadhi-1974’ was passed the Censor Board on 16.09.1974 with a ‘restricted viewing certificate’ i.e. ‘A’ (for adults only).
Imtiaz, Kiran Kumar (in disguise) and others are seen in the picturisation. So this could be a villain’s den song as well.
