“Mahua” (1969) was produced, directed and written by Bibhuti Mitra. The movie had Shiv Kumar, Anjana Manjrekar aka Anjana Mumtaz, Premnath, Farah, Asit Sen, Aruna Irani, Murad,Jankidas, Ulhas, Badri Prasad etc in it.
“Mahua” (1969) had eight sonfs in it. Five songs have been covered in the blog. The fifth song was covered in the blog in 2014 after that there has been a break of more than 11 years when songs of this movie have not been taken up for discussion.
Here is the sixth song from “Mahua” (1969) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Sonik Omi.
The song is picturised as a “remonstrating with the Almighty” song on Anjana Manjrekar (later Anjana Mumtaz) while her beloved Shiv Kumar is thrown to the lions, like how it used to be done in ancient Rome. While Anjana is singing the song shaming the Almighty if HE does not pay heed, Shiv Kumar is wrestling with a lion. as the song ends, Shiv Kumar emerges victorious over the lion. 🙂 It shows that singing “remontrating with the Almighty” song used to bear fruits in Hindi movies of yore ! 🙂
