‘Udhaar Ka Sindoor-1976’ was a Prasad Productions (P) Ltd, Bombay presentation. It was produced by L.V.Prasad and directed by Chander Vohra. Its cast includes Asha Parekh, Jeetendra, Reena Roy, Om Shivpuri, Asrani, Dheeraj Kumar, Prema Narayan, Urmila Bhatt, Sayten Kappu, Manmohan Krishna, Manju Bansal, Pental, Dhumal, Raj Verma, Ashalata, Bhatnagar, Vikas Anand, Kanwar, Master Apurva, Dhanna, Renu, Jayshree T. It also has Rita Bhaduri and Kamal Kapoor in special appearance. This film was passed by censor board on 15.10.1976. Story of this film was written by A. Pundarikakshayyay, Screenplay was by L.V. Prasad and Dialogues were by Pt. Anand Kumar.
The music for ‘Udhar Ka Sindur’ (as mentioned in its’ censor certificate) was composed by Rajesh Roshan and it has total five songs (including one in three parts, as per HFGK). All the songs for this movie were penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri. The playback singers for this movie included Anuradha Paudwal, Asha Bhonsle, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Mukesh.
Two songs from this movie have already been posted earlier on the blog. I had presented the first song ‘paree re tu kahaan kee paree’ which was posted on 07.01.2016. This is the song that was always in my memory associated with this movie’s name and I like this song very much as it brings back memories of those days for me. The second song from this movie ‘o diljaanee, bol meree raanee’ was presented by Peevesie’s Mom jee. This song is also one of the well-known songs from this movie. Peevesie’s Mom had mentioned the following about this movie in her post of 07.01.2018. (Incidentally the first song from this movie got posted on birthday of Reena Roy (7th January) and the second one on actor Jeetendra’s birthday (7th April) the two lead actors of this movie).
It is a movie full of emotion- love for sister, love and gratitude towards foster-father; pinning to reunite with a lost sister; some drama on finding the sister, a groom for the foster-sister and then some action towards the end as by then the hero has become an inspector on the chase of a gang that forges currency. As it so happens the leader of the gang is the foster-brother who has to be pulled up for all the wrongs that he has committed including raping the lost-sister. That is why I said it was a movie full of EMOTIONS. And since there are two heroines, who happen to be sisters, there is a dose of sacrificing the hero for one another thrown in for good measure :). The hero is the lucky person as he gets to sing romantic songs with one sister and get married to the other and be worshipped by her since he married her despite her blindness.
Today I am presenting the third song from this movie which is picturised on Reena Roy, one of my favorite actress.
This song is a female drunkard song picturised on Reena Roy in a get together function. Jeetendra is also present in this get together party.
