“Choodiyaan”(1942) was directed by KJ Parmar and LJ Bhatt for Prakash Pictures, Bombay. The movie had Prem Adeeb, Maya Bannerji, Jeevan, Shakir, Gulab, Bholaram, Meher Sultana, Baby Tara, Ranibala, Sitaram, Chiman Seth, Lakshmi, Vasant Kanse, Athawale, OP Sharma etc in it.
“Choodiyaan”(1942) had eleven songs that were penned by five lyricists – Pt Indra, Prem Adib, Ramesh Gupta, Sharma and Tiwari.
Tiwari has to be Neelkanthh Tiwari because he was the only lyricist with this surname at that time. On the other hand, there were several lyricists with the surname of Sharma, such as Narendra Sharma, Mukhram Sharma, Butaram Sharma, Kidar Sharma etc. So it is difficult to guess who was this Sharma who penned as many as six songs in the movie.
One song from the movie has been covered in the past.
Here is the second song from “Choodiyaan”(1942) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Prem Adib. Lyricist is Sharma, so we cannot be sure which of the above mentioned Sharamas could be the lyricist of this song. Music is composed by S N Tripathi.
To make matters complicated, HFGK mentions Prem Adib as the “swarkaar” of this song. “Swarkaar”, I guess means lyricist.
Only audio of the song is available. The song was clearly picturised on Prem Adib himself.
The uploader has mentioned the lyricist to be Hanuman Prasad Sharma which cannot be the case because Hanuman Prasad Sharma was a music director, and not a lyricist.
I have not been able to get a few wordfs right in the lyrics. I request our readers with keener ears to help fill in the blanks/ suggest corrections wherever applicable.
