I have mentioned in the past that the “puraani filmon ke geet” programme of Radio Ceylon from 7-30 to 8 AM used to be a very “boring” programme for youngsters like me during late 1960s and all of 1970s. I had become a big fan of Kishore Kumar after I heard his song “Mere saamne waali khidki mein” from “Padosan” (1968) and I wondered why the oldtime singers would not sing like Kishore Kumar.

“Adaa”(1951) was produced and directed by Devendra Goel. This movie had Rehana, Shanker, Gope, Madan Puri, Mohana, Shanta Kumari etc in it.
I have discussed six songs from this movie in the past. Interestingly enough, a large number of singers were used in the songs of this movie.

“Adaa” (1951) is a by now forgotten movie that had Shekhar, Rehana, Gope, Madan Puri etc in it. I had discussed two songs from this movie in the past. Sudhir recently came across another song from this movie and he pointed this song out to me.

Madan Mohan made his debut as a music director in 1950. In his debut movie “Aankhen” (1950), he used many singers, but curiously enough, Lata was not among them. From his next movie, Lata became an important singer for him.
