“Daastaan e Laila Majnu”(1974) was produced and directed by R L Desai for Chandra Art, Bombay. The movie had Anaamika, Kanwaljit, Dheeraj Kumar (special appearance), Jayshree.T., Satyajeet, K.N. Singh, B.M.Vyas, S.N.Tripathi, Dulari, Mohan Sherry etc in it.

“Anamika” (1973) was produced by Tahir Hussain and directed by Raghunath Jhalani. The movie had Sanjeev Kumar, Jaya Bhaduri, Helen, Achla Sachdev, Narendranath, A. K. Hangal, Jankidas, Mac Mohan, Iftekhar, Rajesh Behl, Asrani, Ashoo etc in it.

Today (19 september) is the death anniversary of Producer Tahir Hussain (19 september 1938-2 february 2010). He was the brother of noted producer Nasir Hussain. To the younger generation of movie goers, Tahir Hussain is the father of Aamir Khan. “Caravan” (1971), “Anamika” (1973), “Zakhmee” (1975) etc are some of the well known movies produced by Tahir Hussain.

Today (27 june) is the birth anniversary of R D Burman, who was easily the most influential music director during the time I was growing up in late 1960s and for entire 1970s. His dominance was so total that most other music directors had to change their music to sound like R D Burman. I too k it almost for granted that any song that I liked those days had to be a composition of R D Burman.

The songs of “Anamika” (1973) were so nice to listen to. The lyrics of Majrooh Sultanpuri and music of R D Burman were top notch and the singers, viz. Kishore Kumar and Lata had sung the songs wonderfully.
