This is the title song of Ham dil de chuke sanam(1999), the second musical triumph of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. This movie and songs were a runaway hit. I have written as many as 4 posts out of 6 songs posted in the blog.

The song that is appropriate for today as far as western India is concerned is Kai Po che from “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam”. There will be lot of kites littering the skies starting today. But the main attraction will be in Gujarat where there are kite flying competitions etc. and sounds of “Kai Po Che” resound from all corners.

The quest for songs picturized in the desert location, brings me back to this movie ‘Ham Dil De Chuke Sanam’ (1999).
The name is a handful, so its is shortened to HDDCS. This song is named mostly as ‘man mohini teri adaa’. As I typed the lyrics, no where are the these lines repeated, so that line is not a mukhdaa. I thought it better to name it by first line.

Here comes song no. 4 of ‘desert’ songs series. This is a personal favorite from the film “Ham dil de chuke Sanam”(1999). Since the story was in Rajasthan, so there are a few songs in the film picturized in desert location. This is a qawwali type sad song. First part of the song is in desert. The second stanza plays in the film right at the end. The video link I have found is only the first part of the song. However the audio link has full audio of the song.

A few days ago the song “Ajeeb saanehaa mujh par guzar gayaa yaaron” from “Gaman”(1979) sung by Hariharan was posted. This has reminded me of a couple of songs of Hariharan which are my personal favourites. Here is a song from the Film “Ham dil de chuke Sanam” (1999) which Hariharan sang. The music score is by Ismail Darbar and lyricist is Mehboob. And Kavita Krishnamoorthy’s voice is also there at the end of the song, singing no words only the alaap. So technically it is a duet.
