Most Bollywood songs only involve desi actors and foreigners are sadly left out. Considering that there is so much interest about Bollywood movies among non desis too, it is time they too should be made to feel at home in these movies. Gori girls in Bollywood movies too have the right to be teased and made passes at.

In Bollywood movies, singing is mostly the preserve of lead actors (Hero/ Heroine). Others are required to serve as fillers.

It may sound strange but it is true. Some of the finest music of O P Nayyar has been composed for movies where Johny Walker was the hero. I have posted a few such songs already and I keep stumbling upon more such songs regularly.

I have recently discovered a movie called “Jawaani Ki Hawaa” (1959). This by now forgotten movie had music by Ravi.

In 1950s, we had this trend where movies with the prefix “Naya” added to old movie titles were used to create new movies. “Naya Andaaz”(1956) was one such movie. This movie had Johny Walker, Kishore Kumar and Kumkum in lead roles.

I have no idea when the three letter abbreviation (TLA) called CID came into existence. But this TLA certainly caught the fancy of the public. In the mind of the aam janta, CID means something mysterious, bordering on almost supernatural. As a kid, when I asked my elders what was CID, I was given a highly flattering idea of what a CID was. A CID is a master of disguise. “He could be with you, looking like a normal person, but you would not be able to guess that he is CID”- I was told. I would look around me. Finding no one else with me, I would suspect that elder to be CID. But then I was told that CID are there to investigate crimes. Since I was not a criminal, so I would give that elder a clean chit.
