“Jai Mahakali” (1951) was directed by Dhirubhai Desai for Chandrakala Pictures. This movie had Rajkumar, Nirupa Roy, S. N. Tripathi, Shahu Modak, Lalita Pawar, Shanta Kanwar, Ulhas, Dhulia etc in it.

When one looks at the yearwise list of songs in this blog. One finds that the oldest songs that we have in this blog are from 1933. Though Hindi talkies began to be produced in 1931 itself but the records of songs of these movies were not produced. It was only in 1932 that the idea of issuing gramophone records for songs was thought about. But as happens with most new ideas, the potential behind this concept was not immediately realised and only a few movie makers opted to have records of songs of their movies issued.

Most music lovers like to listen to light music and they run away a mile if they have to listen to classical music or classical music based songs. I was certainly one of them during my younger days.
