It so happens that you have a song in your playlist which you enjoy for the fast pace at which it plays. You start an invisible dance to its beats and shake your legs to its amazing music.
One such song is today’s song which I present to you all. The song is from a 1973 movie Rickshawala, which is a remake of a Tamil movie “Rickshawkaran”, which starred the superstar of Tamil Cinema M G Ramachandran. Rickshawkaran was released on 29 May 1971. It was a major commercial success, with a theatrical run of over 100 days. MGR was awarded the National Film Award for Best Actor for this movie.
Sadly, the Hindi remake was a damp squib. This Hindi movie was the debut of Neetu Singh, who till then worked as a child actor, Baby Sonia.
Rickshawala (1973) was cleared by the Censor Board on 24/08/1973. The movie starred Randhir Kapoor, Neetu Singh, Pran, Mohan Choti, Anwar Hussain, Ranjeet, Sujit Kumar, Sunder, Mohan Choti, Ashoo and Mala Sinha in a Special Appearance.
It was edited and directed by K Sankar for producer & writer R M Veerappan under his banner, Sathya Movies.
For those interested in the story or plot of this movie can get this from the story of the Tamil movie, Rickshawkaran here.
Coming back to today’s song, as I have mentioned earlier, it is a fast paced song, with some great bass rhythm created by the Bass Guitarist Charanjit Singh supported equally by Kawas Lord on Bongo, Babla on Congo and Tony Vaz on Drums and Ramesh Iyer, Bhanu Gupta on the electric guitar and Bhupender Singh on Hawaian guitar. All the artists were part of the Pancham Team. One has only to listen to the entire song to understand and appreciate the magic created by this team. I hope you enjoy the song as much as I do every time I listen to it.
“Main Gazab Ki Cheez Hoon” sung by Asha Bhosle is penned by Anand Bakshi and composed by R D Burman. The song is lip synced by a young Neetu Singh, with Randhir Kapoor in disguise and Pran in a wheelchair. We all see the baddies Anwar Hussain, Ranjeet, Sujit Kumar, etc.
