This song from Namak Halaal is an awesome song. Just listening to this song cheers one up. Kishore Kumar has sung the song so well and with such enthusiasm that one can feel the enthusiasm every time one listens to this song.
Not just Kishore Kumar, everyone associated with the creation of the song seem to have caught the enthusiasm bug. when everyone is so keyed up, then the result has to be a wonderful song, and indeed this song is a memorable song. lyricist Anjaan, as well as Bappi Lahiri, the music director and his team have freaked out and have come up with an amazing song.
So far, I have only talked about the audio. The picturisation matches the audio just as well. In fact, the picturisation just before the song begins is also worth watching. The entire picturisation, before the first word of the song appears, sets the tone for a wonderfully hilarious and light hearted experience. Amitabh Bachchan, with the picturisation of this song, enhanced his reputation as an actor with great comic sense. The supporting cast, especially the actor who is determined to shake the hand of Amitabh, only to get rebuffed each time,Ranjit- the hotel manager, Ram Sethi- the photographer friend of Amitabh, everyone have contributed in making this song a great visual experience.
This is a must watch audio visual treat.

Indeed. It is one of those fun songs that one can watch ad infinitum without getting bored.

Fantastic song…total timepass.
This is one of my “go-to” songs whenever I want to listen to some fun songs.
I remember reading an interview with Kishore long back in which he said that this was one of the more difficult songs he sang in his career. It was a very long song and he was not sure he would be able to do justice to it, what with all the nuances it had. But Bappi Lahiri was confident and gave him a lot of encouragement.
The end-result is there for all to see.

Indeed, it is a very difficult song, and Kishore Kumar made light of the hard work behind it. It is an amazing song, as I have already mentioned.

This song is co-written by Prakash Mehra with Anjaan. Stats show there are three songs by Prakash Mehra. I found one “o dilbar jaaniye”(Haseena Maan jayegi). Which are the other two ?
I think the song from “Laawaris” – jis ka koyi nahin uska to khuda hai yaaro(Not posted) is also written by Prakash Mehra.

The sargam before the first stanza has obviously been sung by someone other than Kishore Kumar. Would anyone know who specifically?

The sargam was sung by the Music Director himself, Mr. Bappi Lahri. Mr. Bappi performed the song live in a concert in Trinidad and explained the making of the song.

The sargam part was sung by a classical singer pandit Satya narayan mishra. As Kishore da didnt wanted to mug up and try as he said he doest no classical so y to do it by learning and trying it. Its not that i cannot sing but y to spoil the song Get it sung by any classical singers so Bappi da chose SN.Mishra and he agreed to do it. Kishor da could hv dont it but his sincerity respect for classical made him humble n requested Bappi da to arrange rather being himself what god has blessed him for.

Atulji I just saw a show on TV where Bappi Lahiri has said that the सरगम part has been sung Pt Satyanarayan Mishra as has been stated in this comment. I think we should update the post and tags accordingly
