Babul pyaare
Posted on: November 8, 2008
This movie had an ageing ( read already aged) Dev Anand paired against the rising star Hema Malini. The movie turned out to be a hit. The story line was quite engrosing and the movie was shot in exotic places like Nepal and elsewhere.
This song was picturised very nicely. The song itself is good to listen to, but watching it as well as listening to it is an altogether different experience.
In fact the same can be said about a few other songs of this movie as well. The music directors Kkalyanji Anandji had excelled themselves in this song. The lyricist Anjaan wrote some nice songs and the singers had sung their songs superbly.
I have posted one song from this movie already and I feel like posting a few more songs, that is how nice these songs were.

Song-Babul pyaare (Johny Mera Naam) (1970) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Anjaan, MD- Kalyanji Anandji
o baabul pyaare…
o baabul pyaare…
o roye paayal ki chham chham
o siske saanson ki sargam
o nis din tujhe pukaare man, ho
o baabul pyaare
o roye paayal ki chham chham
o siske saanson ki sargam
o nis din tujhe pukaare man, ho
o baabul pyaare
teri hi baahon mein bachpan khela, khilti gayi zindgaani
ho teri hi baahon mein bachpan khela, khilti gayi zindgaani
aandhi aisi phir chali, tooti daali se kali
binaa maali ke ujdaa chaman, ho
o babul pyaare
o roye paayal ki chham chham
o siske saanson ki sargam
o nis din tujhe pukaare man, ho
kaise abhaagan bane suhaagan, kaun baithaaye doli
ho kaise abhaagan bane suhaagan, kaun baithaaye doli
kaise aayegi baaraat, kaise honge peele haath
kaise beti banegi dulhan, ho
o baabul pyaare
o roye paayal ki chham chham
o siske saanson ki sargam
o nis din tujhe pukaare man, ho
o baabul pyaare
Janak ne kaise tyaag diyaa hai, apni hi Jaanki ko
ho Janak ne kaise tyaag diyaa hai, apni hi Jaanki ko
beti bhatke raahon me, maataa doobi aahon mein
beti bhatke raahon me, maataa doobi aahon mein
tarse tere daras ko nayan, ho
o baabul pyaare
o roye paayal ki chham chham
o siske saanson ki sargam
o nis din tujhe pukaare man, ho
ho…

You’ve really turned your Bangladesh mood on Dev Anand, right ? 🙂
This song is good – the only thing is because it is rona-dhona, I always preferred the more masti songs of this movie. Like O mere raja and pal bhar ke liye.
And of course I just cannot see Hema Malini suffering. 🙂
