It is a song that I informally call “mental massage” song. This kind of songs makes me forget the tensions of the world and make for a refreshing change. In brief, this does the same for the mind as a nice massage does for the body.
I am surprised to see that Talat Mahmood used to be the voice of Sunil Dutt those days. The female voice of Lata is picturised on Nanda. This is perhaps as bubbly and cheerful a duet as any that this duo sang together. Salil Chowdhary was at his peak those days, as was the case with the lyricist viz Shailendra.

This is one of my favorite songs. I love the beat and the melody of this song. this song is very soothing.

Nice lyric. sweet music by Talat & Lata, captivating tune by Salil Chwdhury creates an aura of deep feelings of passion & love in the minds of those hearing it.

I like the term “mental massage”.
A lot of Sunil Dutt songs fall in this category. Many of his movies were soft movies, with a lot of soft songs. Listen to “itni haseen itni jawan raat” – very relaxing. Or, “yeh khamoshiyan, yeh tanhaiyaan”.
Even this song “rimjhim ke” is pleasant to listen to.
