I have heard this song many a times and I loved it. Madan Mohan created such a nice qawwali which was written by Kaifi Azmi, and how it is picturised ? Not as a qawwali, but as a party song.
Navin Nischol and Priya Rajwansh are the main figures on which this song is picturised. I was expecting their characters in the picturisation to stand like statues throughout the song, as is the norm in party songs, but lo and behold, the guests break into dance as if they are baraatis in a wedding party.
Coming to the song itself, Rafi as usual, comes to the party ( figuratively speaking). What a wonderful voice !
There is another singer, Balbir in this song as well. I do not have much information about him.
This movie “Hanste Zakhm” was full of nice songs, but the movie itself was a dud, and as a result, Madan Mohan’s musical compositions failed to find justice at the box office. This in fact was the fate of Madan Mohan as a music director. He would create great music, but the movie would flop, and the great music too would suffer due to lack of exposure with the public.
This song is a wonderful song to listen to, notwithstanding how it has been picturised. Picturising a qawwali as a party song ! I cannot get over my shock.

Balbir sang mostly in Punjabi movies, but he had another duet with Rafi in Jaagte Raho “aaiwe duniya dewe duhaai..”
And its so good to see a Hindi film party where people are really letting go and singing, instead of standing and staring: I mean, if you had Rafi singing such a joyous song Live! what would you be doing?
