Door door tum rahe pukaarte hum rahe

“Chalte Chalte” was a movie released in 1976 that is now mainly remembered for Bappi Lahiri’s music.
Bappi Lahiri, who had make people take notice of him in his debut movie “Zakhmee” this time made people sit up and take notice. The title song of this movie became an iconic song and other songs also became popular.
The title song continues to be remembered even today, but the other songs gradually became forgotten. Recently I got reacquainted with all these songs again, and I realised how nice these other songs were.
Take the song “door door tum rahe pukaarte hum rahe” for instance. It was such a nice song to listen to, and now that I have watched its picturisation, I see that this song called for a new tag for my blog called seduction song.
Yes, this is a song where Simi Garewal tries to seduce an unwilling Vishal Anand.
Some people may wonder what was new in that.Helen , Bindu etc have been at it even earlier. Well, it is true, but this song is the first occasion I can see where it is the heroine who does that. Before this movie, heroines were supposed to be projected as too much seedhi saadi, chaste, Sati Savitri to seduce her man in a Bollywood movie. That way, this song can be said to break new ground.
So here is this seductive, and therefore sensuous, song from “Chalte Chalte”.

Song- Door door tum rahe pukaarte hum rahe (Chalte Chalte) (1976) Singer-Lata, Lyrics- Amit Khanna, MD- Bappi Lahiri
Lyrics
door door tum rahe, pukarte hum rahe
aaj ki raat tum jao na
aakar baahon mein, samakar aahon main
ab yun nazar ko churao na
door door tum rahe, pukarte hum rahe
aaj ki raat tum jao na
aaj raat ko, husn ishq ho
phir bula raha hai
phir bula raha hai
aag paani main,
kis pyaar se,
phir mila raha hai,
phir mila raha hai
phirse woh pyaare bahar ke din aaj tum le aao na
door door tum rahe, pukarte hum rahe
aaj ki raat tum jao na
akar bahhon main, samakar aahoon main
ab yun nazar ko churao na
door door tum rahe, pukarte hum rahe
aaj ki raat tum jao na
hmm hmm
chalte chalte kahin,
beech raah main,
kho gaye the tum,
kho gaye the tum,
pyaar mein kho kar,
hamaare hi ho kar,
ho gaye the gum,
ho gaye the gum
pyaasi tumhaari kabse hun main ab tum tarsao na
door door tum rahe, pukarte hum rahe
aaj ki raat tum jao na
aakar bahhon main, samaakar ahoon main
ab yun nazar ko churao na
door door tum rahe, pukarte hum rahe
aaj ki raat..

copy from “raindrops keep falling” This song was made for the 1969 film “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”. I believe song came out in October of 69, but…the movie didn’t come out until December. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sNU2zx07_A
