Tera jaana dil ke armaanon ka mit jaana

It is difficult to believe it, but this song is exactly 50 years old by now. One cannot make it out by listening to the voice of Lata or watching the picturisation, though.
The voice sounds so fresh. One can listen to it time and time again and not feel bored. And the picturisation has been done with loving care. Nutan is suffering the pains of separation from her beloved. If it was the hero, he would have hit the bottles. But here, the lady hits the piano keyboard. Yes, it is a piano song. Though the picturisation does not show the piano being played again after the beginning of the song.
For the rest of the song, Nutan is shown walking to and fro, as well as up and down, the corridors and the staircase of her palatial residence. Readers of this blog may recall that the characters of old Bollywood movies used to possess big palatial residences that mandatorily had a staircase and a piano. 😉
The song also shows Shubha Khote in the last para of the song. In fact , both ladies are shown descending from the staircase and approaching the piano as the song is coming to an end.
Shailendra as the lyricist and Shankar Jaikishan as music directors have created a masterpiece which has been sung so beautifully by Lata. It is a wonderful song to listen to, as well as to watch.
Song-Tera jaana dil ke armanon ka lut jaana(Anaadi) (1959) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Shailendra, MD-Shankar Jaikishan
Lyrics
tera jaanaa
dil ke armaanon kaa lut jaanaa
tera jaanaa
dil ke armaanon kaa lut jaanaa
koyi dekhe
koyi dekhe
ban ke taqdeeron kaa mit jaanaa
teraa jaana
teraa gham teri khushi
meraa gham meri khushi
tujhse hi thi zindagi
hans kar hamne thaa kahaa
jeewan bhar kaa saath hai
ye kal hi ki baat hai
aa
teraa jaanaa
dil ke armaanon kaa lut jaanaa
koyi dekhe
koyi dekhe
ban ke taqdeeron kaa mit jaanaa
teraa jaana
jab-jab chandaa aayegaa
teri yaad dilaayegaa
saari raat jagaayegaa
main ro kar rah jaaungi
dil jab zid par aayegaa
dil ko kaun manaayegaa
aa
teraa jaanaa
dil ke armaanon kaa lut jaanaa
koyi dekhe
koyi dekhe
ban ke taqdeeron kaa mit jaanaa
teraa jaana

Definitely in the “heroine crying” category. 🙂
Nice song, though.
Nutan after all.
Though I hate to see my Nutan crying. 🙂
