Rimjhim ke geet saawan gaaye

Posted on: January 20, 2009

I have often mentioned that Rainy season is the valentine season in Bollywood movies. Not only does it offer the actors a reason to get wet in the rain, it also leads to more fruitful situations.

In late 1960s, a few movies used this situation well. Boy and the girl would take shelter from rain in a deserted home, which would very conveniently have all the amenities available in working condition despite supposedly been deserted.

The boy and girl would sing a romantic song. In fact, I call such songs “roop tera mastana” genre of songs in honour of the “Aradhana” song of this nature. The sensuousness of the situation would lead to other situations after the song which the camera would then miss out.

Here is a superb rain song from “Anjaana” sung outstandingly well by Rafi and Lata. The song is from the same era as “Aradhana” and here the lead pair are Rajendra Kumar and Babita. The lyrics of Anand Bakshi are just too sensuous. But then I already mentioned that rain songs are valentine day song in Bollywood.

Song-Rimjhim ke geet saawan gaaye (Anjaana ) (1969) Singers-Rafi, Lata, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyrics

rim-jhim ke geet saawan gaaye, haaye
bheegi-bheegi raaton mein
rim-jhim ke geet saawan gaaye, haaye
bheegi-bheegi raaton mein
honthon pe baat dilki aaye, haaye
bheegi-bheegi raaton mein
ho ho
teraa meraa poochhe naataa
badi wo ye ghataa ghanghor hai
chup hoon aise main kah do kaise
meraa saajan nahin tu koyi aur hai
ke teraa naam, honthon pe mere, tere…
sapne meri aankhon mein
rim-jhim ke geet saawan gaaye, haay
bheegi-bheegi raaton mein

meraa dil bhi hai deewaanaa
tere nainaa bhi hain naadaan se
kuchh na sochaa, kuchh na dekhaa
kuchh bhi poochhaa na is anjaan se
chal pade saath ham kaise, aise
banke saathi, raahon mein
ke rim-jhim ke geet saawan gaaye, haaye
bheegi-bheegi raaton mein

badi lambi ji ki baaten
badi chhoti ye barkhaa ki raat ji
kahnaa kyaa hai, sunanaa kyaa hai
kahne sunane ki ab kyaa hai baat hai
bin kahe, bin sune dil ne dilse
kar lin baaten, baaton mein
ke rim-jhim ke geet saawan gaaye, haay
bheegi-bheegi raaton mein
rim-jhim ke geet saawan gaaye, haay
bheegi-bheegi raaton mein
hmm hmm

Atul ji,

This video is not available. Here is a suggestion, to solve this problem. If u could download the songs from Youtube and then upload it on this blog pages, instead to giving the link, it will be preserved here also. B’coz youtube to my knowledge is the best source, where u can find anything and everything in hindi film music.

One more request, there is another wonderful duet “Ke jaan chali jaaye jiya nahin jaaye” in “Anjaana” , if u would hear/see it today, u will post it tomorrow, i am sure.

Regards.
