Mera sundar sapna beet gaya

It is a very old song from a movie called “Do bhai” (1947) and this song was sung by Geeta Roy ( later Geeta Dutt). This song made her an overnight sensation.
The music is by S D Burman, and the lyricist was Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. I was not aware that Raja Mehdi Ali Khan was such a senior lyricist.
The print of the movie showing this song is grainy and as a result, both the picture as well as the voice is sufering in this video. The song was picturised on Kamimi Kaushal.
I will later just post the audio ( of a better quality). Till then, enjoy this rare clip of a very well known Geeta Dutt song that was recorded in 1947.

Atul please dont remove this song despite the poor quality of the picture. It is sheer NOSTALGIA. This is the first time after decades that I have seen the picture version of the song.
True again is the fact that the words were the story of Geeta Dutt’s, after her seperation from Guru DuttI still remember she saying the same on the Vividh Bharti.

The video is of course of nostalgic value. What I meant to say in the writeup was that I would post an audio link in addition to the video link that is already posted.

Beautiful song Atul.
In her later life this song almost became a story of Geeta Dutt’s life when her marriage to Guru Dutt broke up.
