Aapne yaad dilaaya to mujhe yaad aaya

In my series of posts on the songs of “Aarti” (1962), here is the third song in the series.
This particular song is sung by Rafi and he is later joined by Lata towards the end of the song. It was picturised on Pradeep Kumar and Meena Kumari. In the earlier songs, the duo were getting to know each other, and were getting closer. Here they seem to have gotten close enough and now their relationship is taking a serious turn. Hence this song is a serious song.
I have been posting the songs of “Aarti”, but I have not yet watched the movie. I should brace myself and should motivate myself to watch this movie just once. Of course, I am afraid that the movie may be too slow moving and too much of a tear jerker. I find watching the songs of such movies a much more bearable experience.

The tune of the this song is more or less similar to Roshan’s earlier composition of one of the beautiful songs from Baabar (1960) ‘Payam-e-ishk mohabbat humein pasand nahin’ :

Aarti had such wonderful songs…an all-time favourite, despite the fact that I not to partial to Pardeep Kumar.
