Yoon hasraton ke daag
Posted on: January 30, 2009
This is one of the first Lata-Madan Mohan classic songs. This song is from “Adalat” which had other great Lata songs as well. This song is written by Rajinder Krishan.
I have listened to this song many a times, but when I watched the picturisation, I realised that the picturisation was quite moving too. From what I can make out, Nargis is forced into a Kotha where she is made to entertain the clients by singing songs against her wishes. I have not watched the movie, but I must say I find this a very disturbing picturisation, even though the movie is now over 50 years old. The helplessness that Nargis portrays on the screen has my heart in my mouth.
As far as the song is concerned, there is nothing much that one can add. It is very much a timeless Lata-Madan Mohan classic.

Song-Yoon hasraton ke daag (Adalat) (1958 ) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-Madan Mohan
Lyrics
Yoon hasraton ke daag muhabbat me dho liye
ghar se chale the ham to khusi ki talaash me
ghar se chale the ham to khusi ki talaash me
khusi ki talaash me
Gham raah me khade the wahi saath ho liye
murjha chuka hai phir bhi ye dil phool hi to hai
murjha chuka hai phir bhi ye dil phool hi to hai
haan phool hi to hai
hothon ko see chuke to zamaane ne ye kaha
hothon ko see chuke to zamaane ne ye kaha
zamaane ne ye kaha
ye chup hi kyun lagi hai aji kuchh to boliye
Yoon hasraton ke daag muhabbat me dho liye

I was able to rent the dvd for Adalat two or three months ago. I could not believe that in a span of 2 weeks I had rented three movies (Adalat, Duniya Na Mane and Pooja Ke Phool) that had a murder trial with a convoluted plot, but they had the music of Madan Mohan with some great songs. I think the plot of Adalat (court) was incredibly twisted with one misfortune after another befalling poor Nargis and the tragedy never ends, rather tragedy is the end. I liked all the songs, from the sad ones you discussed to the bhangra number ‘Dupatta Mera Malmal ka.”

Love the blog & your comments as always. Noticed a few ‘typos’ in the lyrics of this song.
