“Sargam” (1979), which was a remake of a Telugu movie, was the movie where Jaya Prada made her debut in Bollywood movies.
Here she plays a dumb girl, who is forever day dreaming of dancing and singing.
The movie is full of songs and dances, and in all these songs, Jaya Prada would begin to daydream and a song and dance would follow.
I have already posted one song from this movie. Here is yet another very popular song from this movie.
This song “parbat ke us paar” could be heard all over the places in 1979, be it radio stations, paan shops, loudspeakers, etc etc. The fact that portable cassette players were just making their appearance in the market were beginning to help popularise Bollywood music even more.
Of course, just about every song from this movie was very popular.
This song is picturised on Jaya Prada and Rishi Kapoor, but the real stars of this song are those behind the scenes, viz Lata and Rafi, Ananad Bakshi and Laxmikant Pyarelal.
It is a song that is bound to cheer anyone up, as one expects from a Laxmikant Pyarelal composition.

In fact, I think, all the songs of this film are very nice and listening to the voices of Rafi Saab and Lata Mangeshkar is a ‘divine experience’.
