“Kudrat” (1981) had some fine songs. This movie which had Hema Malini and Rajesh Khanna in lead roles was in fact a musical blockbuster.
R D Burman was the music director and Majrooh Sultanpuri had written the lyrics. This Lata song “toone o rangeele kaisa jaadoo kiya” is a nice
song which was reminiscent of the days when good music and good lyrics still mattered, even though “disco” songs were threatening to change all that.

Indeed Kudrat was a musical blockbuster as you say Atul. Inexplicably flopped and apparently was a huge shock for Kaka who had pinned his hopes on its doing well. And is now considered a classic in its genre. Here’s a great discussion on the film–the comments section is especially interesting. Enjoy 🙂

Very nice song. Very pleasant. I used to get confused at that time between this song and a song from Mr. Natwarlal “tauba tauba”. I don’t know why – this is Lata, that is Asha. But somehow I used to get confused. 🙂
1981 had a few other good songs from Love Story and Rocky. Also RD Burman. I remember “kya yahi pyaar hai” from Rocky – very nice song.
