Ek Raaje ka beta

Here is a poignant K L Saigal song from “President” (1937).
I am calling it a poignant song because Saigal also sang the song “ik bangla bane nyaara” in the same movie where he dreamt of owning the mill where we was an employee. Now it appears that he dream lay shattered and he was hiding this fact from his family members that he had lost his job at the mill. This song “Ek Raje ka beta” was his attmpt to hide this fact from his family members.
This song is written by Kidar Sharma and the music was by R C Boral. It is really a nice and at the same time a sad song as well.

Lyrics
ek raaje ka betaa le kar udane waalaa ghodaa
ek raaje ka betaa le kar udane waalaa ghodaa
desh-desh ki sair ki khaatir apne ghar se niklaa
desh-desh ki sair ki khaatir apne ghar se niklaa
udte-udte chalte-chalte thake jo uske paanv
udte-udte chalte-chalte thake jo uske paanv
to ik jaa par baith gayaa wo dekh ke thandi chhaanv
to ik jaa par baith gayaa wo dekh ke thandi chhaanv
itne mein honi ne apni bansi wahaan bajaayi
itne mein honi ne apni bansi wahaan bajaayi
jisko sun kar pariyon ki shahjaadii daudi aayi
jisko sun kar pariyon ki shahjaadii daudi aayi

Record version of the song:
I find this version interesting because of the fusion of prose and the song lyrics.
