Dev Anand was well past his sell by date as a hero in 1970s, but Dev Saab did not realise that and continued to act in one flop movie after another. In the process, many nice songs picturised on him suffered the same fate as the movie.
“Sahib Bahadur” (1977) was one such movie. There are few people who remember this Dev Anand movie.
Here is a nice song from this movie which became reasonably popular despite the failure of the movie at the box office.
The song sounds as if it was composed by R D Burman or Laxmikant Pyarelal. In fact, it seems to me that some part of “Jumma Chumma” song composed 15 years later resemble the tune of this song. The music director of this movie was neither of the abovementioned music directors. Surprise, surprise, it was Madan Mohan who was the music director of this movie which was released two years after Madan Mohan had died in 1975.

Never heard this song before. I don’t even recall hearing the name of the movie before. Which is strange considering it was 1977. It must have really really flopped. 🙂

I am not surprised that the movie flopped. Who wants to see an aging hero with a wig, wearing a green shirt and, of all things, mauve pants! I can’t believe his outfit!
This song is better off on a CD, just the audio part without the video! Thanks for the song, Atul, which I would never have heard but for this site.
