This song is a rather uncharacteristic song on many counts, when viewed in hindsight.
I call it uncharacteristic, because this party song is not what you associate with Madan Mohan.Yes, Madan Mohan is the music director of this party song, and the cabaret like lyrics were written by that venerable shaayar called Kaifi Azmi.
This song is picturised on Navin Nischol, Yogita Bali and Amitabh Bachchan. Yes, Amitabh Bachchan got credited behind Navin Nischol in this movie as Navin Nischol was already a hot property following the runaway success of his movie “Saawan Bhaadon”, whereas Amitabh Bachchan only had a string of failures to show in his cv.
In this movie, Amitabh Bachchan is the villain.
The song is sung by Kishore Kumar and Rafi. (All these days I thought that it was a Kishore Kumar solo song).
Kishore Kumar sings for Navin Nischol is a fast paced tempo. Every once in a while, the tempo slows down and Rafi’s voice commences. Rafi in this song is supposed to sing for Amitabh Bachchan, but not in the usual way. This is “sotto voce” kind of singing where Amitabh Bachchan is singing to himself and the song is visible only to the audience not to the participants in the song, as Amitabh Bachchan is not shown moving his lips.
That way, this song is different from usual Bollywood movie songs.

I don’t believe this !!!
I must have last heard this song in 1971 or 1972. When the movie was released.
It was in my subconsious all this while. Only when I heard it now, I realised that I knew this song.
Nice song. Pretty catchy.
Oh, I am so happy to hear this song now.
Some other songs (from when I was very young) that I have tried to catch up with are “Ruby o Ruby” (Chaahat) , “Pretty pretty Priya” (Priya), “Aaye baithe khaaye piye khiske” (Ek Shriman Ek Shrimati).
Atul, if you could post them it would be really nice.

Now that you mention it, Raja,I realise that even I have not listened to “Ruby O Ruby” from those days. As for others mentioned in the list, I wonder whether I have ever listened to them

Interesting song! I am wondering why I have never heard this song before. It is interesting to see AB in his early days, before he became the superhero.
