Hrishikesh Mukherji watched a Japanese movie in a film festival and he was so influenced by that movie that he made it into a Bollywood movie called “Anand”(1970) which won critical acclaim and was liked by moviegoers as well. In fact, Hrishikesh Mukherji was so enamoured by this theme that he himself remade his own remake into “Mili”.
“Anand” had Rajesh Khanna playing the main protagonist of the movie who knows that he is suffering from a terminal disease and his time is limited, still he lives his life cheerfully spreading sunshine all around him.
One of the biggest attractions of this movie was its music. Salil Chowdhury had come up with some remarkable songs in this movie that went on to become immortal songs.
I have posted “zindagi kaisi hai paheli haay” from this movie (sung by Manna Dey ) already. Here is the Mukesh classic “maine tere liye hi saat rang ke sapne chune” from this movie. Yogesh wrote this high quality poetry. The picturisation of this song shows Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Ramesh Deo and Seema Deo.
Last stanza differs in the audio and video versions of the song.

Song-Maine tere liye hi saat rang ke sapne chune(Anand) (1970) Singer-Mukesh, Lyrics-Yogesh, MD-Salil Chowdhary
Lyrics
Maine
sapne sureele sapne
chhotee baaten
chhotee chhotee baaton kee hain yaaden badee
bhoole naheen
beetee huyee ek chhotee ghadee
chhotee baaten
chhotee chhotee baaton kee hain yaaden badee
bhoole naheen
beetee huyee ek chhotee ghadee
janam janm se aankhen bichhaayin
tere liye in raahon mein
sapne sureele sapne
roothhee raaten
roothhee huyee raaton ko manaaya kabhee
tere liye meethhee subah ko bulaaya kabhee
roothhee raaten
roothhee huyee raaton ko manaaya kabhee
tere liye meethhee subah ko bulaaya kabhee
tere bina bhee tere liye hee
sapne sureele sapne

Hi Atul,
Good thing you have done with the blogging of lovely Indian songs and posting the lyrics. I play the Harmonica and after lot of searching for the correct lyrics of this song, I could only find it here. Many others have posted incorrect words. Thanks!. One thing beats me though, The phrase “Bhole bhale ….” couldn’t be found in any youtube recordings. Anyways….
Cheers,
Govind

Hi!
Excellent effort in getting these jewels in one place. I have gone through a lot of other sites also, but in many cases the complete song is not available. In Maine Tere liye hi song of Anand, there is one more para which is missing…
Bhole bhale dilko bahalatey…would be great if this can be added.
