Murli waale murli bajaa

I had posted a sopng from “Dillagi” (1949) and described that song as one that was played quite frequently in Radio Ceylon’s “purani filmon ke geet” programme in 1960s and 1970s.
But that was not the only such song from this movie. Here is another song from this movie that was just as popular. Yes, I am talking about the song “murli waale murli bajaa”. It is sung by Suraiyya and picturised on herself.
And it is a nice dance song too. Shakeel Badayuni was the lyricist whereas Naushad was the music director.

Really ? Looks like you did not listen to “puraani filmon ke geet” on Radio Ceylon seriously enough those days. 😉
This song was a popular song to be played in that programme.

Hearing this song for the first time in my life today, I am already very fond of it. So sweet to listen to. What is it about songs of that period – melodious compositions from Naushad and the like – that makes you immediately sing along ? Very nice.
