Matwaali aankhon waale

“Chhote Nawab”(1963) was a movie that was Mehmood’s home production and he acted as the hero in this movie. The biggest contribution of Mehmood in this movie was introducing R D Burman as an independent music director.
I have posted a song from this movie which was sung by Lata.
Here is another song from this movie. It is a club / party song and it is sung by Lata and Rafi. The glimpses of R D Burman’s future music to come ( like in “Teesri Manzil” and others) can be noticed in this song.
This song is written by Shailendra. It is picturised on Helen and Mehmood. Ameeta and Johny Walker watch them from the sidelines.
Song-Matwaali aankhon waale (Chhote Nawab) (1963) Singer-Rafi, Lata, Lyrics-Shailendra, MD- R D Burman
Lyrics
lalala laralalalu layaya
lalalal alala
ho
matwaali aankhon waale o albele dilwaale
dil teraa ho rahegaa gar tu ise apnaa le
matwaali aankhon waale o albele dilwaale
dil teraa ho rahegaa gar tu ise apnaa le
matwaali aankhon waale
ho tujhko shaayad dhokhaa ho gayaa
sun ae haseen main wo nahin
main wo nahin
ho tu hai to mahfil mein rang hai
tu jo nahin kuchh bhi nahin
haay haay kuchh bhi nahin
ho matwaali aankhon waale o albele dilwaale
dil teraa ho rahegaa gar tu ise apnaa le
matwaali aankhon waale
ho jabse tujhko dekhaa ek nazar
mujhe kyaa huaa mere dilbar
mere dilbar
ho mujhpe apnaa jaadu naa chalaa
kahaa meraa sun kahin aur jaa
kahin aur jaa
ho matwaali aankhon waale o albele dilwaale
dil teraa ho rahegaa gar tu ise apnaa le
matwaali aankhon waale
ho main teri duniya me ajnabi
kahin aur hai manzil meri
manzil meri
ho kah-sun le do baaten pyaar ki
duniyaa teri mahfil teri
mahfil teri
ho matwaali aankhon waale o albele dilwaale
dil teraa ho rahegaa gar tu ise apnaa le
matwaali aankhon waale o albele dilwaale
dil teraa ho rahegaa gar tu ise apnaa le
matwaali aankhon waale

[…] In this debut movie of his, R D Burman came up with some lovely compositions. I have already posted two such songs, viz Ghar aaja ghir aaye badra saanwariya and Matwaali aankhon waale […]

If this really is RDB’s debut as independent music director then it took him a long time to come out of SDB’s shadow, which was formidable.
Watching and enjoying the dance n song in the club are johnny walker and Amita.
