Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Pawan deewaani

Posted on: May 6, 2009

I had commented in another song that Bollywood heroes, whatever be their professions in these movies, would act as if their profession was singing songs. I cited Dilip Kumar as an example.

When it comes to heroines, it is no different. It appears that the heroine is seen singing and dancing all the time, whatever be her profession. It is alright if she is shown to be without a job and being brought up to act as a housewife in future. But take this movie called “Dr Vidya”. Here Vyjyanti Mala is a doctor- a medical doctor, not a PhD one. And all the time she is shown singing and dancing throughout the movie. I hope she was shown attending her patients too at least occasionally in this movie.

The song and dance is ofcourse quite impressive. S D Burman, who had patched up with Lata, used her voice in the songs of this movie. Lata sings this song which was written by Majrooh. Vyjyanti Mala’s dance is nice. I suppose dancing used to be an important subject in her MBBS course, judging by the quality of her dances. 🙂

Song-Pawan deewaani (Dr Vidya) (1962)Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri,MD-S D Burman
