Duniya mein aisa kahaan sab ka naseeb hai

“Devar” (1966) was a musical blockbuster. I have already posted three songs from this movie, all of them all time classics.
This fourth song from “Devar” is no different. This song “duniya mein aisa kahaan sab ka naseeb hai” is easily a timeless classic. Most people, including me, enjoy listening to this song, even while unaware about the details of this song.
The picturisation of the song, like the picturisation of the earlier Lata song that I posted, leaves something to be desired though. The song is picturised on two kids, and it is the girl who sings this song. Now I firmly believe that kids should act their age in movies and they should not be made to act like grown ups. But Bollywood movies have traditially tended to picturise kids speaking like grown ups and singing like grown ups.
So here we find a 10 year old kid singing this philosophical song about love. That way, this song is better heard than watched.
Anand Bakshi wrote the song and Roshan was the music director. Kids those days not only sung songs meant for grown ups, they also sung in the voice of grown ups. This song was ung by Lata. I am not aware about the kids on whom this song is picturised. The kids are made to dress like the grown ups that they become in this movie later on. This is another grouse that I have. Kids do not remain dressed in the same clothes and with the same hairstyle throughout their lives, nor are they awrae that they are going to have romantic involvement with each others when they grow up.
As I already mentioned, this is a song that is better heard than watched.
PS-Later I found that this movie has two versions. The second version (with identical lyrics) is sung by the girl (when he grows up to become Sharmila Tagore) while they boy, who grows up to become Dharmendra, hears the same song with the same kind of expression . What did I say about kids being treated like miniature versions of grown ups in Hindi movies.
PS-Any idea who is the young girl. The credits do not mention her name, but she looks like Sarika to me.

Song-Duniya me aisa kahaan sab ka naseeb hai (Devar) (1966) Singer-Lata, Lyrics- Anand Bakshi, MD-Roshan
Lyrics
duniyaa mein aisaa
kahaan sabkaa naseeb hai
koyi-koyi apne piyaa ke kareeb hai
duniyaa mein aisaa
kahaan sabkaa naseeb hai
door hi rehte hain unse kinaare
jinko na koyi maanjhi paar utaare
door hi rehte hain unse kinaare
jinko na koyi maanjhi paar utaare
saath hai maanjhi
to kinaaraa bhi kareeb hai
duniyaa mein aisaa
kahaan sabkaa naseeb hai
koyi-koyi apne piyaa ke kareeb hai
duniyaa mein aisaa
kahaan sabkaa naseeb hai
chaahe bujhaa de koyi deepak saare
preet bichhaati jaaye raahon mein taare
chaahe bujhaa de koyi deepak saare
preet bichhaati jaaye raahon mein taare
preet deewaani ki kahaani bhi ajeeb hai
duniyaa mein aisaa kahaan sabkaa naseeb hai
koyi-koyi apne piyaa ke kareeb hai
duniyaa mein aisaa
kahaan sabkaa naseeb hai

The song begins with this couplet :
jo aap aayen to dil ko qaraar aa jaaye
khizaan bhi ho to chaman mein bahaar aa jaaye
The stanza khyati ji has mentioned is third and last one in this audio version :
I have seen this movie on T,V. as a kid. Even then this song was my favourite, along with “aaya hai mujhe phir yaad”. Where was Deven Verma when these kids were singing this song ? As Dharmendra is adopted son and Devan Verma and Dharmendra should be growing up together. How come only Dharam is there playing with sharmila in childhood , i dont remember.

Missing the stanza
“barkha ki rut ho ya din ho bahar ke
lagate hai sune sune bin tere pyaar ke
barkha ki rut ho ya din ho bahar ke
lagate hai sune sune bin tere pyaar ke
tu hai to zindagi ko zindagi naseeb hai”
Can someone help to find the video?

There are a couple of lines as a part of alaap preceding the song.
I agree with Atul observations about a 10-year girl singing a highly philosophical song unless she is a child prodigy 🙂

Aaha! Thanks Sadanandji for fulfilling my khwaise so fast. I saw this movie during my high school years. I hated Deven Varma for his role so much that felt like – uska gala hi daba doon. He was so mean and 👿 that he cheated his own friend. It was interesting that same four people (Dharmendra, Sharmila Tagore, Deven Varma & Shashikala) were in Anupama and DV had a friendly role in that.
