I have posted a few songs from “Ziddi” (1964) already. This was a Shammi Kapoor type movie ( Joy Mukherji and Asha Parekh starred in it). One major difference in this movie from other Shammi Kapoor type movie was that the music director was S D Burman in this movie.
Out of all the songs of this movie, this song sung by Lata has to take the cake. What a gorgeous song this is.
Incidentally, S D Burman, who was not working with Lata started working with her had only just removed his self imposed ban on her after R D Burman brokered a peace deal between the two one year earlier, when R D Burman was keen to have Lata sing in his debut movie as a music director, viz “Chhote Nawab” (1963).
And what a great song Lata came up with after her reconciliation with S D Burman.
This song is written by Hasrat Jaipuri.
This song is picturised as a stage song on Asha Parekh, with Joy Mukherji in attendance, seated among the audience.
Another interesting tidbit about this movie is that Laxmikant Pyarelal were the arrangers in this movie. In other words, one can see glimpses of Laxmikant Pyarelal in this S D Burman composition.

Yes, S D Burman was one music director who managed to find favour with classes as well as masses.

I remember writing down the words of this song one summer, because it was such a lovely song, and really make you want to dance to it. Thanks for the song, Atul!

This is an absolutely lovely song.
Purely by co-incidence I have been seeing a lot of movies recently which happen to have music by SD Burman. Like Talash, Solva Saal, Teen Deviyan. If you look at the songs he has provided us, you will be flabbergasted. Highest quality music !!!
What a master he was !!!
